Kara laid in her bed staring at the ceiling. Her brain was convincing her to sleep, but it keep wandering to other places. Particularly, one special Lena Luthor. She had no idea where the Super and Luthor stood. Lena had been making her own kryptonite, and that hurt Kara, but Lena had her reasons. She knew Lena was only doing it to help, but the one thing Kara didn't know was why didn't she just tell Supergirl? Kara could wrap her head around the fact that Lena didn't completely trust the Super like she trusts Kara. Should she tell her the truth? Or just keep her in the dark? Kara had no clue what she was going to. She closed her eyes, and slowly began to drift off to sleep-until the loud ringing of her phone blasted in her ear, beside her. Kara jumped out of her sheets and answered her phone to shut off the terrible noise.
"Son of a potsticker! What do you want?!" She answered annoyed.
"Kara? Were you sleeping..?" Alex question eyes narrowing over the phone.
"What? No! Never!" She stuttered nervously and Alex was clearly not convinced."Umm ok...? We kinda need you here at the DEO, like right now. Winn found something on Reign's location and we need Supergirl here ASAP. I just want you come and go over a few things with me, while I get a strike team ready."
"Got it. Heading there now." Kara immediately dropped her phone, changing into her super suit and flying out the window. Then she heard her name over the comms.
"Hey Kara, Winn here. Uh, Agent Danvers wants you to stay away from the DEO and just scope out the area Reign's currently in."
"Roger that." Kara flew around National City , throughly scoping out the area and doing a quick crime check, before stopping to tap her comms. "I don't see anything out of the ordinary. Tonight it's pretty quiet, too. I mean unless she's just y'know, taking a stroll in the park-like every villain does." Kara said to Winn sarcastically.
Winn chuckled and scanned his computer with his brow furrowing in confusion. "Well, funny you say that because from the looks of it ,she really is just waiting in the middle of the park. And the weirder part is, she's literally just floating in the center of the park waiting for something or someone (most likely you). So if you fly right in there you gotta be on your guard and ready for anything. Reme-"
Alex interrupted Winn's rambling, taking over the comms in a serious tone. "Be careful Supergirl. As your commanding officer, I command you to only distract her until we have a strike team prepared. Keep your comms on. Oh, and don't just go in fighting blindly, cause that seems to be your favorite fighting strategy."
Kara let out a light chuckle before her expression hardened. "I won't let you guys down. Trust me, I won't need the strike team. You guys won't get hurt in my mess, this is my battle to fight."Alex and Winn's eyes widened in fear. "No! Sup-" Kara quickly shut off the comm, making Alex and Winn scramble around the DEO, to get her back online.
Kara quickly surveyed the area for Reign until finally spotting her just standing in the middle of the park. Reign's arms were folded and her facial expression was grim and angry. Most of the people who saw her immediately walked the other way to avoid her.Ever so calmly, Supergirl flew towards the worldkiller, looking around to make sure no civilians were nearby, just in case things got...messy.
As Reign noticed Supergirl, an evil grin spread across her face, making the super clench her jaw. "Well, well, well. Looks like you finally decided to come and face me once more." She cracked her knuckles and pointed a finger at Supergirl. "But this time I will destroy you and everything you love. Nothing will get in the way of me cleaning the sins of this world, especially not some foolish Kryptonian like you!"
Supergirl shook her head and grinned slightly. "If you think I'm foolish you should really meet Superman."
She blasted up into the sky like a bullet, firing a hard punch at Reign, who easily caught it and twisted Supergirls arm in return. Supergirl used her free hand to punch Reign square in the jaw, following with a powerful kick in the stomach. Reign didn't even flinch, at the contact and smiled wickedly at Supergirl, using her laser vision to burn her stomach then body slamming into her.
Supergirl was knocked back, and clutched her abdomen in pain, only fueling Reign and making her laugh evilly. "This is just some sick game to you, huh?"
The worldkiller only rolled her eyes in response, then in the blink of an eye, zooming over to Supergirl, seizing her and thrusting her to the ground. Since the two had been fighting in the air, Supergirl fell back to the ground, nearly lifeless. Blood was streaming down her face, and both her eyes were bruised. Small cuts were covering her body and a gash was on her lip.
Reign was nowhere near finished with the super quite yet. She flew down to Supergirl, who was in a crater in the cement and grasped her neck and slamming in against the rubble. Reign continued to crush her head over and over, making Supergirl's vision start to become blurry. Her train of thought was clouded and everything was jumbled. Reign stepped back, observing Supergirl as she attempted to stand up but only stumbled a few feet forward. She tried to used her freeze breath to get Reign stuck in the ground, but Reign was somehow one step ahead. Reign screeched making Supergirl immediately cover her ears in pain and glass from nearby buildings shatter, falling to the ground around them. When Supergirl removed her hands from her ears, they were covered in blood. She didn't even realize, almost her whole face was bloodied, bruised and cut. Supergirl was weakened and becoming tired from the fight, and she wouldn't be able to last much longer.
Reign ejected her lengthy, toxic nails, stabbing Supergirl's leg, laughing as she screeched in pain and staggered into the debris. "You are weak! Never have I fought a Kryptonian that didn't put up a strong fight! You are nothing and will never be able to save your friends!"
"You're...wrong." Supergirl groaned in agony. "I have...something to...fight for. I have friends.... and family while you.... you are alone and have...no point for causing people pain like this. Sam...I know you're still in there somewhere.... just think of Ruby, your daughter!"
"UGH!" Reign made a face in disgust, hearing Ruby's name. "That girl was an interruption in the plan! She means nothing to me, and Sam...is gone!" Reign lunged towards Supergirl and socking her in the face, over and over again, until Supergirl finally mustered the last of her strength to catch one of the punches and throwing off of her, against a huge freight truck.
As fast as she could, Supergirl turned on her com back on calling for Alex. "Alex...Alex, I need backup now...Reign is stronger now since she absorbed the other worldkillers powers when they died..and...and things aren't going according to plan." Supergirl squeezed her eyes shut as she began to quietly cry. "Alex I don't think I can do this.. I can't save Sam and I can't save National City. It's no use..."
"Kara, do not talk like that! Don't you just give up like that! You are Supergirl and my sister! You protect this city, and it's not the end and you know that. Be strong. We're driving towards your location now, so try to hold her off just a little longer, I believe in you. I love you."
"I love you too.." Supergirl mumbled almost inaudibly. That's when Reign finally got up and came face to face with Supergirl.
"Say your goodbyes, Supergirl cause this is the end." She pulled out from her belt a small gun of some sort and aimed it at Supergirl's head. "Bye, bye."
"No!" A voice yelled. They shot a gun at Reign's arm, making her aim lower and shoot at Supergirl's chest. There was a loud gunshot, then Supergirl felt a searing ache in her stomach. She had been shot- with a kryptonite gun. Supergirl shrieked as she was hit and looked down at the bloody wound as she fell to the ground, cupping her hands over the injury. The wound was pretty bad and she was loosing a lot of blood in a short amount of time. Through the corner of her eye, she saw Reign flying off into the dark sky and Alex sprinted towards her with J'onn behind her.
"No! No! No, Supergirl! Oh my god, it's..it's kryptonite..? Someone get a medic, NOW!" Alex carefully placed her hands over the gunshot wound holding it down lightly, reassuring words in Supergirls ear as she began to doze off. "Stay with me, dammit! Come on, don't you dare leave me! You are not dying today."
Supergirl lifted her frail arm, with all the strength she had left to hold Alex's hand. "I..I love you..."Alex has tears in her eyes and was biting down on her bottom lip. "I love you too, Kara. You are not going to die."
Kara struggled to keep her eyes open, but before they closed she managed to get out the few words, "Tell.....Lena... I..I...love..."
