I startled awake and looked at the clock. It was 5:45AM and Ava was awake and screaming. I rubbed my eyes and rolled out of bed. I picked her up gently and held her in my arms. "hey princess, good morning!" I cooed.
I quickly changed her diaper, put on her outfit for the day and took her downstairs. After she was fed I laid her in her favorite swing and sat down on the couch. I was perpetually exhausted.
I hadn't slept for more than 4 hours straight since she was born 6 months ago. Being a single mother was the hardest thing in the world. I spent every moment of every day focusing on Ava.
I grabbed my phone and scrolled through my camera roll, looking at pictures of her dad that u had saved from the internet. It was the only thing I had of him, besides my beautiful baby girl. I looked at his smiling face on my phone and sighed.
She has his eyes, lips, and dimple. Her hair was slowly changing from to black to a dark brown as she got older and her eyes, which started out blue,

When she giggled she had the same deep dimple in her cheek and her mouth curved in the same way as his. She had my nose and my rounded face and chin. She was a perfect combination of the two of us.
As she drifted back to sleep for her morning nap I carried her back to her crib and laid her down gently before heading to shower and get ready for the day. A few hours later she was back up, changed, and redressed. I put her in her car seat and grabbed my bag.
I needed coffee. I could barely keep my eyes open. When we got to Starbucks u grabbed her seat and clicked it into the stroller. I put my bag in the bottom of the stroller and made my way into the building. I was standing in line waiting and gently rocking the stroller to keep Ava relaxed when I moved it too far to the side and bumped the wheel into the persons foot beside me.
