after a long practice on a late summer afternoon most of the team had already left to go home and have a nice shower and meal but four remain.

kenma, kuroo, yaku, and lev are sprawled out on the gymnasium floor with a comfortable silence in the air, then lev unsurprisingly breaks the silence like always.

suddenly and quickly sitting up, lev loudly says "i have an exam next week and i'm not ready!" like he had just remembered the exam.

"wow i knew you were dumb...but to completely forget you have an exam? that's on another level lev." yaku says in a quiet but annoyed voice.

"yeah lev and if you fail this one you might get kicked off the team..." kenma said in his normal relaxed tone, secretly wishing it would happen.

"yeah...you've been failing a lot recently, do you even study?" kuroo asks.

"of course i study! not that it really helps that much..." lev says, his voice getting more quiet as he spoke.

"maybe you should try asking someone for help." yaku suggests.

"oh! that's a good idea yaku-san! but who would i ask?!" lev exclaimed.

"how about you kenma? would you mind helping him out?" kuroo asks kenma looking over at him.

"no way. i'm not spending anymore extra time with lev than i have to." kenma states rather bluntly, tapping away at his phone screen.

"mmm me either, how about you yaku? you are the one that suggested he asked someone for help." kuroo says.

"please yaku-san!" lev pleaded.

"there's no way i'm helping that dumbass study! it'd be easier helping a brick wall!" yaku says sitting up quickly, almost the exact way lev did.

kuroo and kenma fell silent leaving the other two to figure it out themselves.

"please yaku-san, you're my last hope!" lev says dramatically falling over to lean on yaku.

"lev, i swear to god if you don't get off of me i'm going to-" yaku was interrupted by lev suddenly sitting up once again.

"come on yaku-san, please?" lev said pulling his best puppy dog face.

"...fine" yaku groaned, rolling his eyes as he turned to rummage through his bag finally pulling out his phone. "we might as well give each other our contact information so we can set a date." yaku said looking at lev with his normal annoyed look.

"oh! right!" lev said turning to grab his phone as well, a little surprised yaku agreed so quickly.

after the two traded contact info the four teammates started to head home. kuroo and kenma going one way and yaku and lev going the other. waving goodbye, each pair went their own separate ways.

"they're totally in love aren't they?" kuroo asked kenma as they walked down the street at a easy pace.

"yeah...it's very obvious, they just don't know it yet." kenma said not looking up from his phone as he walked. kuroo still wonders how he hasn't fell on his face because of that.

yaku was absentmindedly humming the melody of a random pop song as he and lev walked. passing multiple different stores, bakeries, and cafés, they started to pass a local park. "hey yaku-san do you mind if we stop here for a bit?!" lev asked excitedly.

not that yaku could say no to the face lev was making at the moment he agreed to let him stop at the park.

lev put his bag down next to a bench and started running towards the swings only turning back to grab yaku's wrist to drag him along with him causing yaku to quickly throw his bag down next to lev's.

"hey yaku-san..." lev said quietly.

"yes lev?" yaku responded.

"i'm really happy you offered to help me study for my exam. i was hoping it'd be you." lev said sitting down on a swing.

"oh, really? why is that?" yaku asked sitting in the swing next to lev.

"i don't know really...i'm just more comfortable with you is all."

"really? i thought you'd dislike me after i've been mean to you all this time."

"oh no, absolutely not! i could never dislike you yaku-san!"

"why is that? i'm constantly insulting you and calling you names."

"oh...it's just that i know you don't really mean what you say most of the time! i can tell by the look in your eyes!"

"what?! i totally mean what i say!"

"sorry yaku-san!" lev said with a huge smile.

after sitting in a comfortable silence for a while, enjoying the nice breeze sweeping through the park lev suddenly spoke up."we should probably get going now, i don't think our parents would be happy with us getting home too late!" lev said as he quickly stood reaching out a hand to help yaku stand.

"yeah...you're right." yaku said taking lev's hand steadying himself as he stood.

after turning on his street, saying goodbye, and then leaving lev to walk the rest of the way to his house alone, yaku thought of the conversation the two shared on the swings. it didn't seem like they had said much but it felt as if the conversation had a deeper meaning than he thought before.

he wondered what lev thought about it. wait? thinking about lev? outside of school? damn he'd be surprised if he's ever thought about lev outside of volleyball practice before this!

yaku walked into his house to be greeted with the amazing smell of a homemade meal being cooked in the kitchen. after taking off his shoes he slightly raised his voice saying "i'm home!"

"oh! morisuke you're home! dinner will be ready in a bit go ahead and take a shower yeah?" his mom said peeking her head out from the kitchen

"okay mom." yaku said heading upstairs to take his shower.

after dinner yaku was laying in bed as he still thought of lev. nothing specific just his face, his smile, the way his emerald green eyes seemed to light up whenever someone would mention an animal.

'lev really isn't that bad' yaku thought. 'just a bit annoying at times...but who isn't'

that was his last thought before he drifted into sleep.
