Prologue--
The battlefield was bloody. Skies painted red with the setting sun; it hadn't been the greatest time for the Niros to be attacked. The warriors were weak from hunting in the cold rain and were returning to their shelter when the Keros ambushed them. Fighting for land was common in the area, but this fight was far too ferocious. Neither side was behaving normally. It would be a full moon that night; this explains the behaviors of the white wolves of the tribe.
Some species fell out of transformation and became humans again at defeat, laying on the damp grass stained with the bloodlust of Kero warriors. Others remained in their morphed forms, whether they be white wolves, black wolves, or shine demons.
Atop the hill, a black wolf stared pitifully down at the bloody mess. Fallen warriors littered across the entire field. It was a sad sight. Glancing up at the clouds growing pink, he sighed and turned to his human form. Tall, slender, black-haired and blue-eyed. He wore denim jeans and a red t-shirt.
"What a legacy these warriors have made," he muttered. He'd been amongst the few survivors of this war, and what a sight it had been for him. The other survivors were scattered around all sides of the forest; God knows how long it would take to find them all. He turned back to face the small child he had managed to rescue. She was a white wolf, maybe three weeks old. It had been a shame for the other newborns and toddlers to die this death with their mothers and fathers. As they say, live together, die together.
The child opened her eyes, awoken from her rest. She stared at the black wolf with wide, teary eyes. "Where.." she looked about to cry with fright and worry. "Where is Daddy? And Mommy?"
The black wolf was silent for a moment, considering what to say to her. She wasn't a newborn, she knew who her parents were and wouldn't be fooled into thinking anyone else was. Then he picked her up in his arms and held her close. "I'm Naoki. I'll take care of you now, don't worry."
The child wrapped her arms around Naoki's neck and within minutes had fallen into sleep again. Naoki sighed and carried her into the forest, the moon already rising, the sky clouding and growing ever darker.
