Under The Mask (Miraculous Ladybug Fan-Fic)

Prologue

Adrien paces around his room going back and forth for a good while. Going through his mind is a thousand scenarios of how her reveal went down to the cops. 'Would they thinks it's a joke? What if she was already part of law enforcement and she was one of them? What if she was that hobo on the street that constantly mugs that one drug store? What if she's an executive's daughter that he'll sue everyone? Worst of all... what if she's a teenager like me? Would they take her seriously?' He tries to shake the idea out of his head and sit down for a second.

"This can't be right...." Adrien puts his face in his hands and arches back in his rolling chair.

Plagg puts his Camembert down, "What can't be?"

"Leaving her there! She's injured and I left her all alone!" He gets up and heads over to his dresser, "Forget her wishes! I should've been there when she needed me... not to be abandoned like some kitty." He starts to violently chuck his clothes to try and find his coat.

"But you know her hospital room number... why don't you just go?" Plagg rests on Adrien's shoulder, "It's been a whole week and no sign of her."

"That's what I'm trying to do-" Interrupting Adrien was his cell phone ringing back on his computer desk, "What now?"

Adrien answers the phone and to his surprise it was Ayla using Nino's phone to reach him. She chokes on her words as she's trying to explain that Marinette's in the hospital severally injured and that they were both going to go visit today. The way it sounded like she was trying to hold back tears, was unbearable, like she just wanted to scream at the world how unfair this was; he felt the same way. Adrien bites down on his bottom lip worried for the safety of his dear friend. 'What did she do to deserve such suffering? First a missing persons report and now this?' Adrien thinks to himself he starts to progress into a deeper mind set, 'If she's severely injured does that mean she got caught up in the last akuma attack?! She could've been the few victims that got trapped in those building... maybe she got attacked even more recently given Ladybug and I haven't defeated the villain.'

"Do you know what happened..." Adrien starts to panic silently.

"The cops won't disclose anything to us. But they said we were the only ones she wanted to see besides family." Ayla pauses, "Will you come?"

"Of course I will..." He says softly, "Where do we meet?"

"In front of XX hospital. We'll be there in an hour. See you." She hangs up.

"Change of plans." Adrien looks over to Plagg, "We're going to go see Marinette first then My lady."

'My lady can wait this is a matter of my personal life. Poor Marinette didn't ask to be dragged into this.' Adrien slides his arms into his coat and pouts.

Plagg goes into Adrien's coat pocket "And they're in the same hospital so you're killing two birds with one stone."

...

'Well... not only as they at the same hospital... BUT IN THE SAME ROOM?!' Adrien starts screaming enterally as he's sitting with the others downstairs in a waiting room. 'Maybe it's a shared room? Why would they put Marinette in a luxury suite? Wait no Luxury suites don't share rooms... MAYBE THE HOSPITAL DIDN'T HAVE ANY MORE ROOMS?!?!! THEY HAD TO PUT HER THERE! THATS IT!' He bends over to lift up his jacket a little to see Plagg looking back at him. He mouths the words "people are blind." And proceeds to back up and fade away in his coat.

"Plagg!!!" Adrien whispers violently.

"Plagg?" Nino hears Adrien in distress.

"Oh I um- I meant gag! Like I have this horrible taste in my mouth from all the Camembert...!" He gets up, "I'll be back! You guys go in first..." Adrien rushes out of the waiting room and into the hallway.
