The wedding bells tolled in the kingdom of Ehringhaus when the great king wedded his new bride. Everybody was jubilant all across the land except for one young girl. Her name was, Snow White. She was the only child of the king from his late wife. Snow White grew resentful towards her father for deciding to remarry, for she felt he was replacing her mother. After the ceremony, Snow White retreated to her bedchamber, too enraged to face anybody. The princess paced back and forth with a grimace when she finally observed her mirror. She approached the mirror and stood before it, admiring the reflection of her ebony hair and fair skin. Then her rosy lips formed into a smirk as she spoke the enchanting command:
"Mirror, mirror in my room,
Tell me what I'm to do."
Suddenly, looking before her in a golden frame, the face of the mirror appeared.
"Sullen princess whom is so fair
Fear not, for the bride cannot compare.
Kill the king before the sun will rise
Then run away, for staying would be unwise."
With that, Snow White started for her father's chamber.
The door creaked as Snow White slipped into her father's chamber. He was asleep and did not stir next to his new bride. Snow White creeped over quietly with a dagger behind her back. She looked over him with her eyes full of revenge. She raised the dagger above her head and began stabbing away with gritted teeth and deadly intent. She did not stop until the Queen awoke and screamed. Snow White took off without looking back. The Queen called for help and ordered the guards to go after the murderous princess.
When dusk finally arrived, the guards returned with news for the Queen. "What has happened to the young princess?" the Queen asked. "Your highness, we have failed you. The princess disappeared into the Black Forest. We could not follow." The queen looked down and nodded in disappointment. "Bring me the prisoner, the handyman," the Queen ordered. Moments later the guards retrieved the prisoner and put him on his knees before her majesty. "Do you know why I have summoned you here, huntsman?" the Queen asked. The huntsman looked up with wonder. "I need you to go into the Black Forest and bring back to me Snow White's heart." The huntsman said nothing and had a questioning look, so the Queen continued, "She has stolen my heart from me, so now I desire hers. Your reward will be freedom and your life shall be spared. A life for a life. Will you accept?" The huntsman smiled and said, "As you wish, my queen."
