"Jared is this really necessary? I mean, come on. It's been three years. I highly doubt they even remember me."
It's been three years since I've been back home on the reservation. My brother, Jared Cameron, sent me off to a preppy boarding school as soon as I was old enough. He wanted me to have the best I could get. So I did.
Jared's currently taking me over to Sam Uley's to see everyone. I personally think it's a waste. No one is even going to remember me after being gone for three years. The only people who will are Jake and Paul. Jake's been my bestfriend for as long as I can remember and Paul has been Jared's. We all talked every chance we could get while I was away.
A lot has changed since I left. I'm not the little girl I used to be. Having to go to a strict boarding school really brings out the rebel in you. My brother told me that him and the others finally phased. He was excited about it but dreaded me coming home because of it. He was worried one of them would imprint on me.
Like that would ever happen.
"Of course they remember you, (Y/n)! After all, who would forget someone who has such an awesome brother."
Jared smirks at me while gesturing his hands to himself. I let out a laugh and roll my eyes. I can't say I haven't missed him. But he is still so full of himself.
As we walk up the driveway, Sam's front door slams open and a pack of tanned shirtless boys spill out of the door. My face turns a slight shade of pink as I notice all of their bare chests.
"(Y/n)!"
I snap my eyes to the buff boy running towards me. He wraps his arms around my waist and spins me around. Giggles escape my mouth as I'm being spun in the air.
"I missed you too, Jake," I say as he sets me back on my feet.
"Good to see you're still a short stack. What are you now? Three foot?" A laugh escapes his mouth as he pats my head.
"Haha. Very funny."
I roll my eyes and pull him into another hug, wrapping my arms around his torso. He squeezes me tight, causing laughs to fall from both of us.
"Hey, I think it's my turn."
I pull back from the hug to find a smiling Sam. I jump up and wrap my arms around his neck.
"Sammy, I've missed you!"
Sam places a chaste kiss on the top of my head before unwrapping his arms from around me. My eyes trail to the boy and girl who were next in "line".
"Seth? Leah? You too?"
They both wrap their arms around me and give me a quick hug.
"Yep. About a month ago," Seth says with a wide smile on his face.
I glance at Jared, who has worry sketched all over his features. He must be waiting until I make eye contact with everyone. He really looks on edge.
"Hey, lil bit."
I whip my eyes back around to find Paul looking down on me. A smile graces his face as he wraps his arms around my waist, picking me up.
"Jar looks like he's about to have a stroke," he whispers in my ear. I let out a quiet laugh and tighten my grip on him.
"He could at least make it less obvious," I whisper back before Paul sits me back onto my feet.
He kisses my cheek and goes to stand next to Jared. He pats him on the shoulder and leans in to his ear. He's most likely trying to calm his nerves too. Paul was like a second brother to us after all. If anyone can chill Jared out, it's Paul.
