"How was your first rehearsal with the band yesterday?" Mackenzie asked me during home room.
"It went really well. The guys are a bunch of goof balls. Oh and we decided on a new band name. We are now going to be called Dark Angel! What do you think?" I ask.
"I think it's awesome! Maybe a bit too deep for guys though." she answered.
"I actually came up with it. The guys really liked it. For us it basically means that even the most perfect of people have their dark sides. They can still be good people but they won't be pure. You get what I'm saying?" I asked.
"Yea I totally get what you mean." she said honestly.
"Now we are going to work on creating songs. Alex and I are the official song writers." I say with a slight smile on my face.
"Well that's going to be interesting. When do you start?" she asked me.
"Tonight actually. We are going over to his house since my brother and sister would just get on our nerves." I say.
"That's true. We do get to come watch you rehearse right?" Mackenzie wonders.
"Heck yea! I need some girls there. All of that testosterone will kill me! It's always about who's muscles are bigger and who's the bigger ladies man!" I say shaking my head.
"Well good luck with that." she laughs.
"I'll see you at lunch!" I say as we split up to go to class.
Two hours later I'm at lunch and thinking about how tonight will go. On one hand Alex has gotten on my nerves lately. I mean he is gorgeous but as a personality he's a complete jack ass. He's arrogant, selfish, stuck-up, and only has one night stands with girls. You don't even want to know how I came across that information. I don't even think he has one romantic and sweet bone in his body. But on the other hand he makes me feel things I've never experienced. It could be something I don't even want to mention 'cause it's never gonna happen, or it could just be murderous thoughts. Either way it will only lead to disaster.
I am pulled out of my thought by someone punching my shoulder.
"Ahhhhhhh" I scream in terror. I was not expecting the punch so it scared the shit out of me.
"God your such a girl!" Alex says.
"Hey! I wasn't expecting it!" I say defensively.
"Anyway. Are we still on for tonight?" he asks.
"Yea of course. Do you need a ride since last time you were walking in the rain?" I ask politely yet secretly hoping he will say no.
"No I'm good. Thanks though." he answers. I suck in air after holding my breath, feeling relieved.
I say, "I'll see you at 4:30 then."
Alex walks away and the girls are looking at me with silly grins on their faces.
"What?" I ask them confused.
"Alex and Kat sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in a baby carriage!" they sing.
"Oh hell no! That was so immature anyway. What are you, ten year olds?" I ask rolling my eyes.
"Come on Kat! It's so obvious you like him." Audrey teases.
"No. Absolutely not. He's hot I'll admit that, but he's a total prick. I would never go out with him." I say a little unsure with myself.
"Never say never." she says with a mischievous grin on her face. I know that grin and she is so up to something. It's not going to work though, I can tell you that right now.
The rest of the day drags on and after I say bye to Blake and Mackenzie as they climb into Blake's blue Ford F-150. I get in my car and drive over to Alex's house. He lives in a two story Victorian style house, it is really pretty and I can't wait to see the inside.
I climb up the front steps and ring the doorbell, Alex answers it.
"Come on, we can work up in my room." he says pulling me to the staircase. I think that he was just rushing me so his mom wouldn't be able to meet me and embarrass him. We climb up the stairs and enter his room. Like every guy's room it is a mess, although not as big of a mess as I was expecting. He has royal blue walls, a white carpet, and his twin size bed has a blue bed spread on it. He has a desk in the corner with a laptop on it and there is a sweatshirt thrown over the back of the chair. All throughout the room there are random shirts and shorts left out on the floor. In the opposite corner of the desk there is an acoustic guitar leaning against the wall. He walks over there and grabs it, then sits on the edge of his bed. He motions for me to sit next to him. I go over and sit down with the notepad I brought in my lap.
"Okay so first we need to brainstorm." he says.
For the next half hour we brainstorm different ideas but with no luck. He finally just starts strumming his guitar and a minute later I start humming. That's when I randomly start singing, the lyrics to our first song just pouring out of me.
"Well that was easier than I expected!" he says putting his guitar down. I was busy writing the lyrics to the song I just sang, down.
"It's called Careful." I say when I finish writing.
"It's actually really good! Once we put the instruments with it, it will be awesome!" he exclaims.
"Thanks!" I respond.
An hour later we have another song called Move Along. We are on a roll tonight! I never knew writing songs could be so much fun! And it's with Alex so I really wasn't expecting this. I look over at him and find that he was staring at me. He starts leaning forward as to kiss me. I quickly lean back, and being that I was sitting on the edge of the bed I fell off.
"Ugh that really hurt!" I say.
Alex starts laughing at me, "Are you always this clumsy?" he asks me.
"Yes I am actually. You better get used to it." I say. Alex just keeps laughing. So I get up and push him off the bed. He lands right where I fell. I start laughing and he just glares at me.
"You deserved it!" I say still laughing.
"Whatever." he says pouting.
"Awww look at the little baby pouting 'cause he got pushed by a girl." I mock in a baby voice.
"You find this amusing don't you?" he asks still pouting.
"Very much so." I say smiling.
He leaps up off the ground, grabs me by the waist and starts tickling me. I am very ticklish so I immediately start laughing and fall to the floor. Alex takes advantage of this, straddling me so I can't get up. He pins my hands above my head using only one of his hands, his other hand continues to tickle me.
"I SURRENDER!" I yell between laughter. I had tears streaming down my face, Alex had a smug smile on his.
"So I guess you are ticklish." he says still grinning.
"That was so not cool!" I complain.
"I know. That's why I did it." he says.
"Asshole." I call him.
"Hey, it's not nice to call people names!" he defends.
"Well it's true." I say. I look at the time and realize that I had to get home for dinner. I say bye to Alex and drive home. I wonder if he really was going to kiss me, and if he just tickled me for the fun of it or if it meant something more.
