Nandini's door opened and everyone walked in, their eyes widened.
The once serene, calm space was a total mess. Broken vases with flowers on the floor, side tables overturned, curtains ripped off the window, the whole room in shambles.
Cabir and Dhruv stared at Manik, and then shared a look, iski bandi iske jaisi hi hai. Angry young woman.
The woman in question was sitting behind the huge bed, her knees close to her chest as she squeezed her arms around them, holding a picture frame, her parents.
She was trying extremely hard not to cry, clenching her fists, digging her nails into her palm so hard that they bled, but she couldn't stop the tears from falling.
Manik averted his eyes, he couldn't see her like that. He didn't want to. For him, Nandini was effortless joy, sunshine, happiness. He couldn't fathom her in darkness. He had to do something, he thought before leaving the room, without anyone noticing.
Malik and Raichand gave each other a look before nodding, they knew what had to be done.
They left the room, everyone watching them quizzically, what were they doing?
The three gentlemen entered the room again, all three having guitars in their hands.
Malik-Raichand quirked their eyebrows, looked like they had the same idea after all.
Before Manik could even react or start playing, Malik had struck a chord, one that Nandini could recognize anywhere, her appa used to sing it to her, whenever she'd get upset.
Nandini didn't turn back, not tonight, she needed space, she didn't want to be pacified by Malik and Raichand.
Fab5, Sammy and Navya recognized the song as well, smiling, they were ready too, to sing their hearts out and make Nandini smile.
"Kabhi Kabhi Nandini Zindagi Mein Yuhi Koi Apna Lagtha Hai
Kabhi Kabhi Nandini Wo Bichad Jaye To Ik Sapna Lagtha Hai"
Malik began, making others giggle at how he fit her name into the song. Nandini was trying her best to avoid them, and looked at the picture frame in her hand.
"Aise Me Koi Kaise Apane Aansu ko Bahenese Roke
Aur Kaise Koi Sochle everything's gonna be okay"
Raichand continued, going over to Nandini and sitting besides her, as other followed. He wiped a tear from her face as she gave a weak smile and shifted to sit on her bay-window.
"Kabhi kabhi toh lage
zindagi mein nahi koi khushi
aur na maza"
Cabir sang, making Nandini turn towards him, she didn't know there were others here too.
