Dark Hearts

Prologue

He was in the trenches along the Somme river. The first wave of troops were ready to leave the trenches when suddenly there was an explosion and twenty of his men were flown in every direction. They didn't get up. Jack woke up drenched in sweat, he had had the same dream every night since the event.

Jack Lupus was 21, he was an average height and a solid build with brown hair and blue eyes. He walked out into his kitchen, it was 2:56am. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, he opened it but saw nobody. It was probably just some kids playing a joke, but there was a letter. It read, "Meet me at the drunken sailor tomorrow night at six o'clock".

The next night he left his house and went down two the drunken sailor. It was two blocks away from his house. On the way there he past alleyways, better and drunken men and women staggering home. When arrived he was greeted by a big group of friends. That night they drank until they could hardly walk. It was midnight when he decided to go home, There was a full moon and a nip in the air. He staggered up his steps when he heard a man screaming down one of the alleyways he had past. He walked back to the alleyway and started moving towards the sound of the screaming, although it started to sound more like howling.

When he reached the man, he was no longer a man, but a wolf. The wolf lunged at him and took a big chunk of flesh out of his leg. Jack screamed in pain and started writhing on the ground.

The next morning he woke up and looked straight at his leg, but there was nothing to be seen. The wound from last night was healed. There was not even a scar. He wondered if last night had even happened or whether it was just a dream. But he knew it wasn't because there was a big blood stain where he has sitting. He stood up and walked back to his house. He went inside and took off his clothes, this is when he really saw the damage caused by the wolf, his pant were covered in blood with a big hole in his pants.
