Why does something always pop up with my mom and work? I have moved five times this past year, but all of them have been in America. This time it's in a foreign country! In one of the biggest, richest cities of all time: Seoul.~A MONTH EARLIER~
"Max!" My mom called my name from downstairs. "Come down there's something I need to tell you! I even made you're favorite food: Kimchi fried rice with a homemade tuna roll!"
Shit.
I stopped scrolling through my phone and got or of my bed. The only time she cooks is when she's going to talk about us moving. I came out of my room and walked down the stairs, seeing my mom in the dining area with her homemade foods. I took a look at my plate and immediately shot a look at my mom with frustration.
"We're moving again, aren't we?" I asked with a worried face.
"Have a seat." She sighed. "This time it is a little bit different."
I took a seat.
Different? Different how?
I looked at her and thought of one of the worse situations possible.
"You're not getting married. Are you?" I took a deep gulp, afraid of the answer being yes.
"Of course not!" She said it as if I was a child. I rolled my eyes and slowly started eating the Kimchi. She opened her mouth to speak again.
"We're moving again." She said abruptly. I was about to open my mouth to say something, but she held her hand up to stop me. So, I took another bite. "We're moving out of the country." I choked on my food.
"Where?" I asked with a lump in my throat.
"Korea... we're moving to a very big city as well." She propped her face up with her hand to look at me in a different way, hoping I would be even more excited than angry at her. I didn't change the expression I was making in my face. "Seoul."
Seoul? Korea? I'm freaking out! I don't know any Hangul even though I listen to the groups my mom has worked with. I mainly focused on their dance moves! But now we have to move! I'm going to leave everyone behind. Again. I love my mom. I'll support her till the end.
"Okay, mom." I said with a fake smile. "I'm coming with you whether I want to or not, anyway! It's a good thing I'm not going to school there though!"
My mom smiled at me. It has been a long time since she's done that.
"We leave in a month." She announced. "Eat up! When you're done, we need to start packing!"
I gave her a small chuckle as she danced or of the dining area.
I guess I'll have to learn while I'm there.
After I finished eating, I ran back upstairs and started putting things back into their boxes. I never really took anything out of the boxes. Mainly because we move every six weeks.
Seoul, Korea here I come!
~NOW~
We got off the airplane and we were in Seoul airport. It was huge.
"This way, Max!" I heard my mom yell. She grabbed my arm and pulled me to the bag check line, got our bags, and made our way out of the airport. Suddenly, I felt nauseous and needed to go to the restroom. I desperately look around for the nearest one.
"Mom..." I caught her attention. She looked at me with concern.
"You look pale." She looked around and then grabbed my arm. "This way, sweetheart!'
