The next day, I headed to school. I had a game plan. It was called, "Hope For The Best." Kanon-chan gave me hope yesterday, so I plan on doing well! I sat in my seat, which was next to Kanon's. Chisato was there, and she sat behind me. Class started, and our teacher started the lesson.

"Class! It's morning, but how many of us ate breakfast?"

Oh, I didn't eat breakfast, now that I think of it.

"I ate… a bit of natto…" Kanon said aloud.
I heard something that sounded like a disgruntled cough from behind me.

"An interesting choice for breakfast…" the teacher said.

After class, I stood next to Chisato's desk. She looked up, surprised to see me.
"Oh…! You're (Y/N)-san… From yesterday! Hey..." Chisato said.
Her 'hey' was a bit drawn out, more of an awkward 'heeeeeey' than a 'hey'.

"Hey, Chisato! Can we eat together during lunch?"
Was that too blunt? She hates me, I bet.

She looked at me for a bit, glanced at Kanon, who was spacing out. I can only imagine what Chisato was thinking about me.

"Sure… Aya-chan has to stay for extra work… Right?"
Chisato turned to this 'Aya' girl, who had a huge stack of papers on her desk. She had pink hair, which I thought was cute. But score! Lunch date with Chisato! Just Chisato and I!
Talking about…

Oh, man. I'm not sure what to talk about.

Chisato and I walked to the courtyard and sat down on the grass. She took out her lunch, which appeared to not be a meal but dessert.

"It's 'acai na tigela' in case you were wondering. It's so good! Want a bite?"
Chisato said, taking out a spoon, digging it in the food.

She put the spoon close to my face. Is she trying to feed me, or does she think I can't handle a simple spoon?

Who cares? After all, this is unlikely to ever happen again!
I leaned my head forward a bit.

Chisato put the spoon in my mouth. It felt nice. Erm, the food, I meant. There were slices of banana in there, which was an interesting addition.

"Mmm, tasty…" I said. I think I savored the dessert a bit more than I thought.

Chisato smiled.
"It's crazy good," she said.

She stopped for a bit, then continued. "Y'know, I like sitting here at school… Usually I'm with Aya-chan, or Kanon-chan, because when I leave, I get harassed by fans…"

"It can't be that bad, right?" I said. "Being a former movie star and an idol sounds great!"

"Easy for you to say," Chisato said. "You're not the one who's always asked, 'Are you THE Chisato-chan?' all the time..."

"Enjoy it! I wouldn't mind. My dream is to be a superstar! Really popular, too!"

Chisato scoffed.
"Why do you have a dream?"

"Weird question," I thought.

"We all have dreams. What, you don't have one?"

"No," Chisato responded. "I don't see the need. They're not needed at all, not what I'm doing, not what I've done before."

"I don't agree." I said that, and now I regret that. She's gonna hate me! I started this.
I continued, "It doesn't matter what profession you do, we all need dreams so we can look forward to something."

Chisato looked at me as if I were an alien. Did I make sense?

"All of you are the same," she said, before getting up and walking away.

Now I've done it. Chisato definitely hates me now. I can't lose Chisato that easily! We're on what, the second chapter? Chisato is an interesting girl, and I really like her. I've liked her for a while. I guess you could say that my dream is to be with her. That dream is about to be crushed.

How can I salvage our friendship? I walked in front of her immediately.

I saw her face, and she avoided eye contact with me. I couldn't see her beautiful eyes. She was expressionless, too.

I quickly grabbed Chisato's hands. There was no reason for this, but I had the impulse to.

"Chisato… I know you dislike what I just said… but I have a dream of my own… to be just like you. You're my idol."
She blushed a bit.

I didn't practice that line, not even in my head. And, to be brutally honest, those words just came all out. Those were my true feelings toward her.

"(Y/N)-san… You must like me a lot… But why?" she asked. "I'm just a girl who doesn't have a dream…" She looked like she wanted to cry.

"No… Look at me. I think it's interesting that you don't have a dream. That makes you unique to me."
I told her that in my most serious voice.

"Dreams are beautiful… I can help you work toward a dream."

"My own… dream…?"
Chisato said, slowly.

"Okay… If it's with you, then please… I want to have a dream! A great dream… just like you!"
