17 [ first war, pt. 2 ]

"Get ready, everyone. The trees have arrived."

"1, 2... 10! Watch out, 10 monster trees approaching," Rena Rouge alerted the superheroes. 

"Remember, use your chemical equipments to stunt them," Pegasus reminded.

The first two monster trees that arrived was one big, and the other one not as much. "I'll handle these two," Rena said as she opened the shampoo bottle she brought, and shook it back and forth hoping so the liquid would jump out and attack the trees.

Unfortunately, her plan didn't seem to be working. The shampoo's consistency was too thick — she needed water to melt down the shampoo, so the shampoo can flow out. "Darn, it's not working! Help, somebody cover me!" Rena Rouge was about to freak out.

Hearing her call for help, Carapace instantaneously ran over to her and used his shield to cover Rena who was still attempting on benefiting the shampoo.

"Hurry up, Rena! Fighting two monster trees at once is not a pretty easy job," Carapace reminded. 

"Give me a little more time!" Rena Rouge replied.

"I need some sort of fluid, that can make this shampoo's consistency more liquid! What can I use?" she asked herself as she looked around.

"I see a kindergarten, a few sidewalk benches, a drinking fountain, a red car- wait... a drinking fountain? That's it!" she hurried over, approaching the drinking fountain.

She pressed the trigger but received nothing as a result. "Damn it, Paris! A drinking fountain with no water? Super efficient," she rolled her eyes, extremely crossed.

"Need any help?" King Monkey who was watching her all along, while of course fighting the monster trees, suddenly offered assistance.

Rena Rouge replied, "I don't think so, King Monkey. You know all your powers do is mess other objects up!"

Monkey King smirked, "that's exactly why you need me."

He activated his special ability, "uproar!"

Suddenly, a banana shaped toy appeared and he quickly threw it at the water fountain's direction.

Soon after, the water fountain rumbled and burst out a strong surge of water reaching up to the sky.

"All right!" Rena Rouge cheered. She speedily shoved her shampoo bottle into the huge wave of water until everything were mixed thoroughly inside the bottle.

Rena squirted out the shampoo and water mixture and hit two of the zombie trees right in the face. As a result, the trees' barks hastily wrinkled as they started to shrink and return to their original form — little sprouts, planted peacefully on the ground.

"Whoa," Rena Rouge and King Monkey both gasped in amazement. "I didn't see that coming."

"This is brilliant! With just these unnatural chemicals, we can beat these trees in a flash!" King Monkey yelled with excitement at Rena, but she oddly didn't respond.

"Wait a minute, King Monkey, did you just use your ability on the water fountain?" Rena's eyes widened. 

"Uh... yeah, why?"

"Didn't Ladybug instruct us to save our special abilities until the very end for the sake of the plan...?"

King Monkey froze. "Oh, bananas..."

Meanwhile, Carapace and Pegasus has beaten two more monster trees, leaving six left.

On the other hand, Ladybug is currently face to face against the one and only, Chrysalide.

"Surrender and give me your miraculous, Petite Bug!" Chrysalide went berserk.

"Never!" Ladybug jumped and lassoed her magic yo-yo aiming at Chrysalide, then twisted it around him, blocking his ability to move.

He groaned but succeeded on freeing himself by spreading his arms widely, emerging some kind of wings from his back.

"What the? You also have wings?!" Ladybug asked in shock.

Chrysalide who also just realized his new feature smirked as his fist clenched tight and strong. 

"That was not supposed to happen, was it?!" Ladybug was still freaking out.

Chrysalide burst a devilish laughter, "you're nothing compared to me, Ladybug! I'm reforming into something stronger every hour!"

"Just like how you were a pupa, and now you're a moth... this makes total sense! Your power isn't to control natural beings, your power is to morph into a better version of yourself, until you're..."

"Unbeatable?" Chrysalide cut Ladybug's sentence, "props to you too though, Petite Bug. Seems like you're getting smarter and smarter every second!" he mocked.

"Although it was rather fun making fun of you, now is no time for it. Instead, it's time for your defeat! Get her!" Chrysalide ordered as a horde of the remaining dragonflies flew swiftly towards Ladybug.

"Hey, no fair! 1 vs 4?!" Ladybug protested in hurry.

Chrysalide laughed hysterically, "what do you want then? More? Cause I'll gladly give you that!" Chrysalide smiled in satisfaction as he gestured his hands in the air. As a result, swarms of dragonflies and monster trees lined up neatly behind him, forming an unbreakable battalion.

Ladybug gasped, but within a second, her face changed into a dead serious one.

"Enough!" she screamed, "let's make a deal!"

Chrysalide seemed somewhat interested, and instructed the army to hold. "I'm listening."

"Let's fight! But only you and I are allowed. Just Ladybug vs Chrysalide," she said with a sharp grin on her face.

Chrysalide took his time to think then lift an eyebrow, "do you think I'm that much of a fool? You really think I would gladly fly into your trap just like that?" Anger could be heard in his tone.

"It's not a trap. I'm a woman of my words, you know," she continued, "or are you maybe too scared to fight me?"

"Excuse me?!"

"Oh no, is poor Chrysalide too weak to fight Ladybug? How small, how embarrassing, how... pathetic," she sneered in satisfaction while flooding him with mockery. Seems like she was enjoying this bit rather too much.

"Shut it! I'm neither weak nor pathetic! It's a deal. Let's duel."

Chrysalide using his newly discovered ability which is flying, flew right down to Ladybug's presence, without allowing his feet to touch the ground. 

Chrysalide is now face to face against Ladybug. The both of them stared at each other with luster and desire to defeat.

Pegasus who was secretly watching from afar, furrowed his eyebrows at the sight of the two mortal enemies standing facing straight at each other.

"What in the world are they doing? I wonder what Ladybug's plan is now..."
