"Rise and shine sleeping beauty!" I hear as someone jumps on me.
"Ugh leave me alone! It's Sunday! Can't a girl sleep?" I say while trying to push the body off of me unsuccessfully.
"Nope! 'Cause we have to rehearse all day today." Drew says.
"Fine, I'm up! Now get off!" I groan into my warm pillow.
He gets off of me and I roll out of bed onto the floor, letting out a small grunt as a make contact with it. I lay on the floor for about a minute and slowly stand up, glaring at Drew for waking me up from my peaceful slumber.
"Damn Kat!" Drew says with wide eyes as he takes in my clothing. I totally forgot that I wore really short shorts and a tight tank top last night.
"Shit." I say quickly grabbing my blanket and wrapping it around me. I grab some clothes and run to the bathroom to change. Five minutes later I step out all ready to go for rehearsal. I jump in Drew's truck and we head over to his house. Once we get there we head down to the basement where I can already hear the other boy's laughter.
"Guess who forgot about rehearsal today?" Drew asks them.
"I didn't forget! I was just sleeping!" I defend myself.
"Yea right. Anyway we need to get started since we got a gig this Friday!" Drew says excitedly.
"Really? Omg I'm so excited! You heard the boy, let's get going!" I say.
"I am not a boy! I am very clearly a man!" Drew says offended.
"Yea keep telling yourself that." I say right back at him.
All of head to our places for practice. I situate myself behind the microphone and we practice our song Careful for about an hour before we have it perfect. We then practice Move Along for another hour until we get it perfect.
That's when we decide today would be a good day to film the videos of our covers of the five songs we previously decided on.
Connor sets up the video camera and once he hits record I introduce myself, then Alex introduces himself then Connor and Drew. When the individual introductions start we say in unison that we are Dark Angel. First we do our cover of My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark by Fall Out Boy. When we finish we stop the recording and start a new one. Next we do King For A Day by Pierce the Veil. After that we do Royals, Snow, and Whyyawannabringmedown. When we are finished with all of the songs Connor uploads them onto our youtube account and we are officially done for the day.
"Yay we are finally done!" I yell relieved.
"Uh uh not so fast. We still have to write more songs." Alex says killing my mood.
"Ugh really?" I complain.
"Yes really. Now sit your ass down and lets get writing." he says taking a seat. I sit beside him and pull out my notebook with the other two songs in it. I start thinking about how Alex annoys me and I get inspired. I immediately start writing down lyrics. When I'm finished I give it to Alex and he reads over it.
"This is really good." he compliments.
"Thanks. If you don't know by now it's called Gives You Hell." I say blushing slightly at the compliment. At that moment Alex grabs the notebook and starts jotting down lyrics to another song. I look over his shoulder to read it and see that it's called You Decide. This song writing thing is going really well! It's pretty much effortless.
"You guys have already finished two songs in an hour?" Drew asks in disbelief. I glance at the clock and realize that it has been an hour.
"Yea I guess we have." I answer.
"At this rate we could have a whole album in a week!" Connor says enthusiastically. Since it's already three in the afternoon we decide to take a break and eat. The guys decide to go to Buffalo Wild Wings since they have football games playing. I have no problem with it so we get in Drew's truck and drive off.
Alex sits up front with Drew and I am in the back with Connor. Alex sets the radio station on rock and we all start singing along to almost every song that comes on.
At Buffalo Wild Wings we get a booth and the guys are instantly captivated by the Redskins vs Ravens game. I find myself yelling along with them since I am a die hard Redskins fan, even though they haven't been very good lately.
"God dammit Griffin!" I yell when he throws an interception.
"They seriously need to bench him. Ever since his knee injury last year he's been awful." Drew comments.
"Yea I agree. Even Morris hasn't been hot lately. When they were rookies last year they were awesome, but this year I don't know what happened." I say.
We finish watching the game while eating wings and laughing. This was probably the most fun I've had in a long time. It's so refreshing being able to hang out with guys and be able to talk about sports without them judging what clothes you wear or what your hair looks like. Girls can just be so much drama!
We head back over to Drew's house and Alex and I decide to try to write one more song. This song took a bit longer to write than the other ones. But once it was done it was so worth it. Our new song is called What I've Overcome. That's when I realize that we still have to figure out the actual music part of the songs. We only have the lyrics done.
"Uh guys don't we have to write the actual music for the songs now?" I ask.
"Oh right. Seth does that for us. He's an amazing composer. He wanted to help with the band since he couldn't actually be in it so we gave him that job." Connor says.
"Oh cool. So I'll just leave the notebook here for him then so he can look at the lyrics." I say. Five minutes later Seth comes bounding down the stairs and asks for the lyrics. I hand them over to him and he looks them over.
"These are awesome! I already have an idea for all of them." he says immediately getting to work. He finishes the sheet music for Careful in half an hour. Which totally amazes me. The band starts working on it while Seth does the music for Move Along. An hour later we have a really good hold on Careful and Seth finishes Move Along so we get to work on that one.
By the time Seth finishes Gives You Hell it's already nine at night so we call it a day. Drew gives me a ride home and I shuffle into my room falling onto my bed in exhaustion. I never knew that being in a band could be this much work.
I was almost asleep when my phone rang jolting me out of my half sleep.
"Hello?" I answer groggily.
"What's up girl?" Audrey asks.
"I just got back from an entire day with the band. We uploaded those songs onto youtube and Alex and I wrote three new songs." I say.
"Oh wow. That sounds like a really busy day." she says.
"It was. But good news! We have a gig Friday night at the club over on Evans street!" I say happily.
"Omg I'm so happy for you! I might have to get Aaron to take me so we can see you guys!" she suggests.
"I don't know how well that's going to go over since he and Connor don't get along." I say skeptically.
"Oh that's right." she says a little disappointed.
"I'm sure he will still take you though. Just don't mention Connor." I say trying to cheer her up.
"That's actually a good idea! Thanks Kat! I'll let you go now before you pass out on me." Audrey says hanging up. A minute later I am out cold.
