New Word In Class
Athena sat in class fiddling with her pencil and listening to her teacher talk about the English language few minutes before the class ends. She was dreading it to be over. She taps the end of her pencil on the desk as a jolly little boy with red cheeks and cheese splatter across the corners of his rosy lips smile at her.
“Fweddie, stop staring.” Athena warns at him strictly, but he just shrugs and pulls out a piece of paper from his messy backpack and writes her a note. He folded it into an airplane and flew it to her. She rolled her eyes and didn’t even bother to open the note as the bell rings for school to be over. Athena rushes out of the classroom wanting ice cream so bad under this humid condition. She ran across the street to a small supermarket and bought a Popsicle stick for herself before heading to music class. As she walks down the sidewalk with a pepper spray in her hand and the other holding ice cream, Athena caught a glimpse of Ethan in front of her with a girl tugging on his shirt longingly. Athena squints her eyes and made a crooked mouth like Alyson always does when she gets jealous.
“Ethan…I still really do like you.” Tiffany tugged on the hem of his shirt with a pout.
“I have a wife and daughter.” Ethan didn’t understand her; she wasn’t this stubborn in the past. Why does she want to get back with him now? Tiffany shakes her head and wraps her arms around his neck while he tries to push her away with his hands on both her shoulders. Athena runs up to her dad and pushes the girl away, standing in the middle of the adults. Tiffany glared down at Athena who threw her ice cream at Tiffany,
“That’s what you get for messing with daddy.” Athena sticks her tongue out and grabs Ethan hand pulling him away from Tiffany, leaving her screeching about her new shirt. Tiffany runs up to Athena and turns her around. She raises her arm in the hair, ready to smack the rude little girl across the face when Ethan held her wrist in mid air,
“You’re not touching her.” Ethan glared at Tiffany who has really changed. She wasn’t like this when they dated. Maybe she has always been like this, but he was just blind to her dark personality.
Tiffany yanked her arm away from Ethan’s grip and stared evilly at Athena, “You better watch out little brat.” She turns away ad walk with Athena shaking her booty from side to side.
“Daddy’s mine, oh yeah, daddy’s mine oh yeah….” Athena pumped her fist in the air and shakes her butt in circles while Ethan stood laughing at his daughter. He picks her up into his arms with her backpack on his shoulder and kisses her soft cheeks,
“I’m sorry Athena.” Ethan didn’t want to bring his daughter into this mess. It was all his fault. If something happens to Athena he would rather die.
Athena nodded her head breathing heavily, “Yeah daddy. The money I saved for ice cweam is gone.” She points at the Popsicle stick on the ground that melted and Ethan smiles softly,
“Let’s go buy a new one after class okay?” Ethan starts walking down the sidewalk and Athena nodded with an appreciated smile. As she lay in his arms, she couldn’t stop staring at him with a big smile on her pale face.
“Daddy, I learnt a new wod today.” She said cheerfully wanting to tell Ethan all about her school.
“Really? What’s the word baby girl?” Ethan hugs Athena tighter to him when they got to the not so good neighborhood around the school with guys staring at the girls. He walks faster, pulling Athena towards his chest.
“tenchaman.” She cheered happily thinking of the only one that deserves the word. “You are my tenchaman. I love you daddy.” She pushes her self up to kiss his cheek.
