Prologue:

The sun still hidden behind the mountain, the wind blows faster. My window creeks back and forth as the chilling wind snakes into my room. The smell of rain and pine fills my nose as I slowly inhale the sweet scent that I love so much. I could tell that soon we would have yet another storm, which rarely happens out here in Alaska. Tall trees surrounding my house in the middle of the woods, encasing it safely. The loud banging sound from my window creaking back and forth finally gets on my nerves. I sit up, and walk towards my window closing it then locking the latch keeping it shut, as I look out the window I could have sworn I saw glowing blue eyes looking at me. I blinked a couple of times, wondering if it was just my imagination, but as I opened my eyes again I saw nothing.  I sighed and turned around walking back towards my bed, glancing at the clock it was 3:21 a.m. I groaned miserably and slumped back onto my bed wrapping myself tightly in the covers and closed my eyes, letting the darkness once again take my body until it went numb.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Be- finally after a couple minutes of searching I hit the right button shutting it off. It was 6:30 in the morning, the usual time I went for my jogs in the middle of the woods. I slipped out of bed a little to quickly, grabbing my desk for support I found my balance and walked towards my closet. I grabbed my grey sweats from one of the pant hangers, and slipped them on. On the other side I grabbed my grey jacket leaving my tank top on and slipping it over, only to zip it halfway up. I could feel some of the warm rays of sunlight that peaked successfully through the thick clouds hovering around my town. I stretched a bit, getting ready for my run. I walked towards my stairs and jogged down them, taking two sometimes three at a time. I slipped the keys into one of my pockets and bolted out of the door. I heard the faint clicking noise of the door locking behind me, with that I was off.

I jogged slowly towards the thick density of trees before me. I glanced around and listened but heard nor found anything. Plugging in my headphones and blasting my music on loud, I advanced through the woods at a good pace. The memory from the view of my window, when I had seen those bright blue eyes staring at me, from last nigh kept coming back. I could feel myself being pulled towards them for some odd reason. But why? Why was I completely helpless to two random eyes in the dark shadows of the forest? I snapped myself from my thoughts and focused back on my morning run. My steady pace was becoming normal for me, so I  decided to pick up the paste and started to run, faster and faster.

'Faster' my mind yelled in every corner of my head. Pushing my body to move quicker, and as told, thats exactly what it did. It felt great, being able to feel free. To run free. To having my freedom out here. Running, the wind rushed through my hair with such ease. It felt as if I was walking on air. As if I was moving so fast it felt as time had slowed, making everything a blur as I kept running. Deeper and deeper into the woods the grey mist became thicker. It was always like this, but today it was different. Thicker. Dangerous.

I glanced around not able to see within a few inches of my face, the mist was to thick. I glanced around beginning to become nervous. I felt lost. Helpless. Vulnerable. My senses were off. I sighed frustrated and kept running, shaking my head softly. Occasionally tripping over tree roots that grown out from under ground and laid peacefully over the surface of the wet floor, I was able to get my balance back. I stopped again running out of breath, glancing around for an exit. Still no luck. Something I didnt have. My hands gripped my knees firmly as I hunched over, while I waited to catch my breath again. I sighed regaining my breath and kept moving forward not knowing were my body was leading me to. What is wrong with me? I suddenly felt different. Weird. Not only am I 18 but I'm also in the middle of the woods alone without a track or path back to my home. Isn't that just great and dandy!

I pulled my headphones from my ears and wrapped them around my Ipod. I quickly slipped it into my back pocket and pulled out my phone. I opened it and pointed it towards the sky, I turned in small circles only for it to tell me that there was no signal. Great.

"This is just fucking great!" I growled at myself. Only to be silenced as I heard a faint noise around me. I looked around frantically, but couldn't see anything. Shit. I kept looking, not wanting to give up. I could feel my body trembling softly in fear, my nerves were haywire. I spun around in circle rapidly, trying to find out what was out here with me, and where it was. But my body froze in complete fear as I stood still in my place. Only to hear the sound people dread of hearing in the woods, while they are alone. Snap!
