Lydia, Kasey and Raj were talking in the Main room.

"Are you okay after the attack?" Kasey asked, placing a hand in Lydia's arm, concerned.

"I don't think you can call it an attack if no one got injured" Raj told them "We were ambushed"

"How is that possible?" Kasey asked "Nobody outside the Institute knew about the mission"

"It was dark" Raj told her "We couldn't see much. There were wolves, and the others were hit with vampires. But I swear, the one that got me... moved a lot like a Shadowhunter"

Lydia looked at Kasey.

Kasey frowned, shaking her head.

Lydia looked toward Alec and Isabelle talking quietly on the other side of the room.

Hallway

Kasey and Lydia walked down the hallway.

"Don't be harsh, Lydia" Kasey told her "Maybe it wasn't Isabelle"

"Maybe it was" Lydia told her. They stopped, facing each other "You heard how against she was when we arrested Meliorn"

"So was I when you decided in behalf of the Clave to take him to the Silent Brothers" Kasey told her.

"You wouldn't betray our bond like that, Kace" Lydia told her. "So, Isabelle is the only suspicious"

Lydia walked away.

Kasey followed "If you arrest her there's no way back. You know the Lightwoods are in tight ropes with my grandmother. If you arrest Isabelle she will find a way to make her an example to the rest of her family"

Lydia stopped, turning to face her "But if I don't arrest her myself, Raj or another member of the Clave who was ambushed will. It has to be me if you won't" Kasey stopped in front of Lydia "Our hands are tied, Kas. I don't want to screw them over but the law is hard-"

"But is the law" Kasey finished sadly. "The law sucks, Lyds" she lowered her voice "She was doing the right thing in letting Meliorn go"

Lydia realized, looking shocked "You did betray our bond" Kasey didn't answer "You knew about it. You went against me"

"The parabatai bond isn't that explicit, Lydia" Kasey told her.

"You knew about Isabelle and probably her friends ambushing us, that's why you didn't want to go" Lydia told her.

"I don't know all the details you know that" Kasey told her "I just did what I thought was right. Do you even know what would've happened if you actually got Meliorn with the Silent Brothers?" Lydia didn't answer "You did not think of the consequences. I saw them. I lived through them in five seconds, Lydia. So, I had to make sure a war didn't break out. A war not only with Seelies but with the rest of the Shadow World. And you would have been the first casualty, so you can thank me later for saving your ass"
