The Forest

The Beginning

Four boys were laughing amongst each other. "Haha! Did you see the news last night? What a rip off," Johnny said, "I bet someone just did that for fun!" Dylan, Nico and Cody all laughed along with him. "Yeah, I bet some weird ass creep just went into the forest to cause all that trouble!" Cobldy said. There was a knock on the door, and Dylan got up to answer, since it was his house. He opened the door to find his mother standing in front of him, with groceries in hand. "Cody, come out and help me take these groceries in." said his mother. Cody sighed and walked out to help his mother. The three boys watched as he walked out then turned to each other. "Dude," Nico started, "Do you think what happened was...real?" Nico was the one with the most brains, and he would get teased the most in the group. He was the shy and content one. "Nico, did you not hear the reason we were laughing? We were laughing at what was on the news about the forest, you dunce!" Dylan said and gave Nico a friendly slap on the neck. "Yeah dude, it's not real, said Johnny, "there's no such thing as monsters. People just make shit like that up to end up on the news." Nico sighed and said, "You're right. S-sorry for asking that." Dylan and Johnny each put a hand on Nico's shoulder to comfort him. Cody was finally done helping his mom. He walked back in and over to the group of boys. You see, Cody was the leader of the group. He was a jock, and he had a girlfriend. He was one of the popular kids. "Man, I hate it when she tells me to help her out. It sucks!" Nico looked at Cody then turned away. "What's the matter, Nico?" asked Johnny. "N-nothing....don't worry about it, dude." Nico replied. Dylan and Johnny looked at each other and knew what was going on. They both let it go with a small smile. "So losers," Cody started, "what's gonna be our plans for this 'bro-hang' this weekend?" Dylan scratched his chin. "Aren't we just gonna play video games for tonight? Oh, and we're gonna get pizza, right?" Cody nodded. "Exactly. Come on boys, let's get this party started!" Nico looked at Cody. "Uh, Cody, um...." Nico paused. "What is it?" Cody asked. Nico started again, "this technically isn't a weekend since, you know, we're gonna be hanging out for four days." Cody sighed. "Nico, you don't have to nerd out on everything, dude. You're a real geek, aren't you?" Nico's face turned a bit pink. "N-no, I'm not a geek, I was just pointing something out!" Dylan jumped in. "Come on Nico, cut it out with the nerd stuff and stuttering." Johnny, Cody and Dylan laughed, while Nico remained silent. "So, let's get started." Dylan said before getting and and streching. Cody and Johnny followed to the kitchen. Nico stayed back, rubbing his arm. He seemed embarrassed. "Nico, let's go!" Nico got up. "Ah, right! Sorry, I'm coming." Nico followed the other boys into the kitchen.
