“Bobby, it’s time to get up!” mommy called from downstairs. I giggled to myself. Mommy didn’t know I was already up and dressed. I jumped out of my room, and ran down the stairs (on my tip-toes of course), till I came up behind mommy.

“Boo!” I yelled, and she screamed, then, smiling and laughing, she turned around to pick me up, give me a kiss on the cheek, and put me down on my chair at the table.

“I didn’t scare you!” I said loudly, showing her I was upset.

“A big boy like you has to practice to sneak up on mommy!” She said grinning at me, and she lightly tapped me on the nose. “Now eat your breakfast, you have a big day ahead of you.” I grinned up at her, and began eating my breakfast. It was my favorite, the smiley platter mommy called it. It had eggs and bacon and was healthy. I picked up my fork and began to eat.

“Na ah,” mommy said smiling. She took my fork from me. “Here comes the plane,” she said waving the fork around.

“Mom! I’m too big for that, I’m going into kindergarten!” I said laughing.

“Hmm… I guess your right. My little boy is growing up so fast!” she said, getting tears in her eyes.

“Don’t worry mommy, I’ll never leave,” I said, running up to her and giving her a big hug. I didn’t like it when mommy cried. When mommy cried I cried. “Mommy, don’t cry,” I said, my voice cracking slightly. She laughed, and gave me a big hug.

“I’m alright sweetie,” she said and I instantly brightened. If mommy was happy nothing would ever go wrong. Mommy made everything bad go away, and daddy helped her. I loved mommy and daddy!

“Well, eat up, not only is it the first day of school, it’s your birthday!” She said.

“Mommy, school started last week!” I said grinning at her mistake.

“Oh, well, I’m guess your right. Well, in that case, we shouldn’t be having smiley platter should we?” she said, a glint in her eyes. My eyes grew wide in the fear that she would take away my yummy breakfast.

“Don’t take away smiley!” I said loudly.

“Oh, fine. Not even for…” she pulled a bag off the counter and opened it.

“Chocolate muffins?” she continued. My eyes grew wider, and I grinned, nodding my head up and down really fast. She laughed, and pulled one out of the bag.

“Oh my, look at the time!” she said looking at her watch. “You better eat that in the car!” she said grabbing her keys. I picked up my jacket, and mommy helped put it on me, with my backpack over it. She walked to the door, and with a flourish of the hand, opened it.

“Your chariot awaits your highness,” she said regally. I giggled and tried to repeat her motion. I repeated what I once heard daddy say.

“Ladies first,” I said smiling.

“Well, aren’t you the gentleman!” she said, walking out the door herself, and holding it open for me. I grinned, and jumped through it, running straight to the car.

“Well, have a nice first day of school,” mommy called out to me as I exited the car. “Don’t forget, mommy and daddy have a big meeting with the bosses in New York today, so Aunt Becky is going to stay with you tonight,” she said smiling brightly. I grinned and nodded, waving even after the car had turned the corner

It was almost lunch. I looked around the room, smiling at all my friends. Today’s lunch was breakfast! It was my favorite breakfast, they eggs and bacon and my favorite; French Toast Sticks! I grinned up at my teacher but she was frowning, looking around the room. I frowned, and looked around the room. We were being noisy….I began shushing everyone and when they looked at me I pointed at the frowning teacher. The room instantly silenced, but still, teacher didn’t say anything. She just frowned. I turned my head sideways and looked at her funny. She seemed scared. Maybe we were being louder than we thought? I slowly got up out of my seat and walk over to her.
