Hallway

Alec, Kasey and Lydia were walking together.

"The message said, 'Have everything ready. The trial will begin immediately'.' Kasey told them "She's on her way"

"Yeah, but that doesn't make any sense" Alec told them "Why rush this? We both know that Clary and Jace are still out there"

They stopped walking, facing each other.

Kasey sighed "I told Lydia this before. My grandmother will use Isabelle's trial for high treason as an example out of your family for people who go against the Clave. And she will continue doing it until the Cup is in her hands, in Idris"

"Oh, come on" Alec told them "We both know there's nothing solid to pin on Isabelle. If we just delay this for a couple of weeks, it–"

The doors opened.

Guards walked inside.

Everyone looked over.

Imogen Herondale walked between the guards, walking past Alec, Lydia and Kasey. Kasey immediately straightened up, wiping all emotion of her face. Imogen looked around, turning to the guards, "Guards at ease" She looked at Alec. "Excuse us" Alec walked away. Imogen looked at Lydia and Kasey. "My granddaughter" Kasey nodded curtly, fighting back a small smile. Imogen noticed, saying nothing, looking at Lydia "I understand you've cooked up some kind of a marriage with..." She nodded to Alec, raising her eyebrows "I can't imagine what's in your mind" She looked at Kasey "Or yours for allowing... that"

"She's my Parabatai" Kasey told her "What she thinks is right for her, I support her"

Imogen raised her eyebrows, slightly impressed, "Very well. And is that the right thing, Branwell?"

"It's a suitable marriage for both of us" Lydia told her.

Imogen softened slightly, pursing her lips "Well, as long as it doesn't interfere with your case against his sister"

"You have my assurance" Lydia told her.

"I need your word, Branwell, not flaccid reassurance" Imogen told her. She looked at Kasey. "Herondale, why is it that I don't see your name in the arrest? Or apart of the trial?"

"I see with facts, ma'am" Kasey told her "By any point did I not see Isabelle Lightwood acting against the Clave's best interests. I had no reason to bring up a trial against her, therefore I will not be part of it"

Imogen looked displeased, "Right" She looked between the girls, "Let's be clear here, ladies. What we are seeing is the same pattern Valentine showed before the Uprising. Bending of the Law, wanton defiance of Clave order"

"Isabelle Lightwood is not the next Valentine Morgenstern" Kasey told her.

"I am not interested in the next, I want the Valentine Morgenstern" Imogen told her sharply. "We were fools into believing he was dead. Now, his daughter has the Cup and he's out somewhere. I won't have it"

"Ma'am, I don't honestly believe Valentine was involved in the Seelie escape" Lydia told her.

"Spare me your honest belief" Imogen told her.
