Inspiration: His Daughter by Molly Kate Kestner

Sort of like the song in some aspect and slight trigger warning.

As I sat on my bed crying, I remembered when I was younger. One night, my dad got really drunk and abused my mother, and all I did was hide. Trying to escape the pain of it all.

Why am I so weak? I scream at myself.

Why couldn't I have just tried to help her?! I glanced down at my arms, scars scattered across my pale skin. I didn't know if I could do this anymore. Life. It was just too much. People at school say so many things. Horrible, rude things. They call me a slut, a man whore. They know I'm gay, they call me a fag. I just want one man in my life to actually care. I want to fall in love, I want to have a significant other. But that doesn't happen. It never does. I just need somone, something to keep me going. I need someone other than family that cared.

~Time Skip Two Weeks~

Everything has gone down hill. I was trying not to get pulled into alcohol or drugs, however I couldn't seem to stop cutting. I was strolling around town when I passed a liquor store. What would some beer hurt? It would certainly help me not think for a while. I entered the store, grabbing a six pack and heading to the register.

"Did you find everything okay?" The cashier, Scott the name tag said. Scott asked as I set the beers on the counter.

"Yes." I mumbled.

"Are you okay?" Scott asked worridly. When I looked up from my wallet, I realized I was wearing a short sleeve shirt and my scars were visible.

"Not really..." This was the first time anyone has acted like they even care about me. My mother barely talks to me anymore, I was on my own.

"Would you like to talk about it?" He really did care, didn't he? Even though I was just a stranger.

"Yes." I will either regret this later or this will be the best ting that has ever happened to me.

And he just sat the and listened, comforting me. After that we continued to talk until we were talking evryday.

~Time Skip A Year~

"Hey, Stephanie?" I whispered to the relaxed form I was holding.

"Yes Mitchy?"

"I so glad I went to go get beer that day." I kissed the back of his neck as our cat Wyatt jumped onto the couch above us.

"I'm glad too." Scott mumled back, falling asleep once more.

"You saved me." I let the tears slip, hugging hm closer to me. Whatever sent me to him, may it be God or fate, I'm just so grateful to have met that cashier.
