It was a normal day and mom had asked me to buy some onions from the market.I made my way through the crowds of people and headed for the vegetable stall. My town was not a normal one.It was safely guarded by ancient magic from the outside world. The people here were gifted but once the Royals realised that the abilities of the locals had started to advance they began to kill us off.

I was personally glad  that I was not amongst the gifted. To die at such a young age would have been a shame.Rumours had it that the dark prince and his cousin were the last royals to possess any elemental abilities, which were fire and air,the last element seemed to have been killed off with the old.

"What would you like to buy today,Amira?"The old woman asked me,am sure that at a point in time I knew her name, but now I simply refer to her as the old woman or Mother Theresa because of her charitable attitude. With time we had grown to be great friends, with her allowing me to buy vegetables on credit. My family was not wealthy and I occasionally had to patch up my clothes which had began to look like rags.
"I would like three onions, please"I replied handing her three silver coins.
"Keep the money ,child,am sure you would find something better to do with it later"I beam at her,I was secretly hoping she would say that because my dad had recently gotten the flu and we were saving to buy him medicine.
"Thank you so much"I said, bowing my head repeatedly.
"Dont mention it,now hop along before your mother gets herself I ill worrying about your whereabouts"I grabbed the onions and put them in the pockets of my dress and hurried home.
