Morning has passed and you left the house to visit Kim's Hotel, the hotel that Jennie had been talking about. In day light, the hotel looked small, about the size of a small mansion. You were slightly confused because it did not seem like any other hotel, it seemed more like a motel. You slowly pushed the gates open and took a few steps near the main entrance.
"Kim's Hotel" You read aloud. "It's more average than I expected" You said while looking around. You fixed yourself and headed straight in.
You eyes wondered around the reception area. It seemed to be closed. No one was there and looked completely empty. Was this really even a hotel? You walked around and studied the room's features
"Are they closed during the day?" You asked herself.
"Welcome" Lisa jumped from behind the reception counter and yawned.
"AHHHH" You jumped, startled by Lisa's sudden appearance.
"I scared you didn't I?" Lisa asked playfully. She looked at you from head to toe and smiled.
"Oh, you're not dead" She said. You were still recovering from her shock."Y-Yeah" You stuttered.
"Here is our room prices" Lisa said handing you a clipboard with the prices of each room.
"Aren't these too expensive?" You asked.
"Yes. We have to follow the rules so, no discounts" Lisa said and smiled.
"It's like you're saying that you don't want me here as a guest" You said.
"You can stay at another hotel if you like" Lisa suggested.
"Thanks but I didn't come here as a guest" You took out and envelope from the inside pocket of your blazer. Lisa took it and started to read. It was starnge as you thought she was too young to be working here. Is she also dead?
"Oh! Your the new manager!" Lisa shouted in glee.
"I never said that I would accept the job, I'm just here to visit" You corrected Lisa.
"Right Miss Kim is waiting for you. This way please" Lisa lead the way. The both of you stepped inside the elevated and made your way to the lounge. You were left confused as you entered the room.
"Are there no guests?" You asked.
"Most of them are asleep right now" Lisa explained.
"This looks like and average hotel. From what I've heard, there is supposed to be a beach and a sky lounge with a beautiful view" You complained.
"We value those the most. Would you like to visit them Manager Kang?" Lisa smiled.
"I don't need to see them" You rudely said. "I told you not to call me manager" You were starting to get irritated.
"Shall I call you Y/N then?" Lisa asked.
"Miss Kang" A voice caught both caught your attentions. "Miss Kim is waiting for you" Nayeon informed. Nayeon then lead the way to Jennie's office. As they walked through the never ending halls, you was curious if the person in front of you was a ghost. You then poked Nayeon. Nayeon turned around.
"Are you not a ghost?" You nervously asked.
"I'm a human just like you, Miss Kang" Nayeon said. You both continued to walk to Jennie's office.
Once they reached it, you looked at the pictures that was on the wall. It was framed photos of Jennie and the hotel.
"She's been alive for so many years?" You asked yourself.
"She will be here soon" Nayeon humbly said.
"Excuse me but, how long have you worked in this hotel?" Ypu asked.
"I started since I was 40 and worked for 30 years now" Nayeon kindly said. "Since I'm getting old, you will be the one to take over my job" Nayeon chuckled and walked away. Suddenly the doors open revealing Jennie.
"You're late" She said. She then looked over to your feet. "You're not wearing the shoes that I bought you?" Jennie pouted.
"Those shoes did not suit the hotel that I am working" You argued back. "I'm only here for a little bit, I will have to go to work soon" You informed. Jennie chuckled.
"Guess that sunglasses girl gave you a break" Jennie smiled.
"You made her stay at my place??" You almost shouted.
"No I didn't. Since you spoke to her, she will not stop following you" Jennie said.
"I hate seeing these ghosts" You started to get annoyed.
"Well you better get used to them. You will start serving the ghosts in this hotel as guests" Jennie's tone changed.
"Is this like a shaman's home that takes care of ghosts or something?" You raised an eyebrow.
"It's a hotel!" Jennie started to get annoyed with you. "It's even registered with the Jung-gu office!" Jennie pointed at the certificate the was hanging in the wall.
"How come I didn't find your hotel on the website?" You asked back.
"I'm not going to repeat myself. This is a hotel for ghosts!!" Jennie shouted at the top of her lungs.
"Right, this is a hotel for ghosts. What kind of service do you have?" You asked. She made a cross with her hands "Exorcism?!" You shouted sarcastically.
"We don't exorcise" Jennie glared at you. "We comfort them" She said softly. You gave Jennie a disgusted look. "Kim's Hotel is place for souls to rest. A place where they can fulfil the things they failed while they were still alive" Jennie explained.
"If the hotel is for ghosts then why do you need a human manager?? Why not a ghost?" You curiously asked.
"Humans can do things that ghosts can't do. You know like pay the bill, taxes, ordering stuff like that" Jennie said.
"Look I saved up a lot of money over the years to pay you back" You said handing Jennie her debit card with all of her savings in it.
"Since you offered it to me, I'll keep it" Jennie smiled.
"Well I best be going then" You said.
"Oh good I've been waiting for you, let's go together" Jennie grabbed her purse.
"Hold up, I never said you can come with me" You frowned. "I'll leave this hotel by myself" You cockily said.
"By yourself?" Jennie smirked.
"Yes by myself" You replied.
"Alright, go" Jennie sat down on her couch. She watched as you left her office.
"She will come back for me" She said as she sipped her tea.
To be continued...
