We hear nothing but the hum of the engine as we ride hidden in the shipping container truck.
I play with my fingers as I wait anxiously for us to arrive. The drive from the farms back to the pack was an estimated 30 minutes.
Soon enough, I hear the truck slowdown. Voices can be heard outside briefly before the truck starts moving again. From Adarian's information, we probably just got through the checkpoint to enter pack grounds.
"We're here," Adarian tells me, confirming my thoughts.
"Prepare to exit when the door opens. Get off discreetly and hide in a sorting room. Do not occupy the first room where the sorter will be." I notify my team.
"You're with me," I tell Adarian aside.
Approximately ten minutes later, the truck stops and shuts off. I take a deep breath, praying this part goes as planned.
Get off the trucks and hide. The second part of the plan.
"Mike, Craig, you're up first," I order. I hear shuffling somewhere in the container for a few seconds.
The door opens up and minimal light shines through. I silently thank the Goddess. That just made this part so much easier.
The harvest trucks are dropped at the sorting houses on the end of a work day. Luckily, the houses are built the same as the farm houses and there are little to no guards in this area. The only guards that exist are the two who make the drive. After they stop here, they go about their way until the truck is unloaded by the paysan workers.
Only three workers unload the truck. One unloads, one moves the harvest, one does the sorting. As soon as one's back is turned is when we make our moves. We have to be as silent as ever.
I soon see Mike and Craig huddled near one another, creeping past. I peek my head from the corner, eager to see my team work. I watch as they split, one on either side of the door. Fingers point and heads nod, I assume they are speaking to one another through the link.
One by one they check if it's clear for them to move and I watch them both hop down from the truck on light feet, and move like mice to a sorting room. Seconds later, I hear one of their voices in my head.
"Success, alpha, room two occupied. They are distracted, now is a good time for the next group."
On cue, Niro and Dennis prepare to get off next. They successfully did so within in a minute. Before Adarian or I could move, one of the workers came back to the truck. We listen as he sets up to unload, getting onto the truck and pushes some boxes around.
I hold my breath hoping that he doesn't come either of our way. I hear him get off of the truck then peak my head around the box blocking my vision. He's gone but I'm sure only for a moment.
"We need to move now," I tell Adarian, moving from my spot.
Immediately he emerges from his corner. We split at the opening just as our guards did, checking for a worker or a lingering guard. Adarian points and I look over to see the third sorting room we have to get to. We jump off of the truck in unison, quickly making our way to the room.
I let out a relaxing breath once we enter the room. There isn't a door so we stay hidden in the corner. If someone comes in we'll have to hide in a closet.
"You good?" Adarian asks lowly.
"Yeah," I whisper back.
He nods, taking a quick look outside. "They're starting to unload. The mover is our only threat. He goes into the room to put down the boxes; When his back his turned or when he enters the room we need to get over to the second room and get one of the groups."
