After Brayden kissed me, I should've felt horrified or angry or scared but I wasn't. I was happy for the first time in a really long time.
He pressed his forehead to mine and said "Please trust me, this will work out. I'll talk to my mom when we get back to my house."
"Thank you, Brayden." I whispered.
He only kissed me again then back over to David. "Okay David, let's start again." Brayden huskily told David. David came back over towards Brayden and had this deteremined look on his face, that I've never seen before.
After Brayden and David were done training Brayden came over to me and took my hand in his.
"Please come in the ring just once with me. I'll train you too. I won't let anyone hurt you, including myself."
"Maybe next time, I-I can't." I told him, scared of what happens in that square ring.
"Brittany I promise I will not let anything hurt you. Inside that ring you will become a stronger person. Let me help you, please, Brittany. "
"If I back away just stay where you are in the ring."
Brayden smiled and squeezed my hands then lead me to the ring. He opened the ring so I could step through. I cautiously went through the ropes and turned around looking out from inside the ring. This is what it feels like I inside the ring. I thought. Brayden came close and handed me some boxing gloves and a head piece so it protected my head. Brayden started with punching exercises and teaching me ways of blocking hits.
"Okay if you want I can start with you coming at me first, but only if you want to."
I got scared, so scared I backed in to a corner away from Brayden and curled up in to a ball. I heard him take off his gear then hesitantly move near me. A small hand wrapped around mine and started rubbing my hand back and forth with their thumb.
"Sissy, it's okay. Daddy won't hurt you anymore. It's just me and Brayden here. Everything will be okay." David whispered in my hair. Sniffling I looked in to my little brother's eyes and seen him wanting me to be the person who he thought I was. With a hiccup I took ahold of his hand in mine and smiled.
"You're right. I can do this. If you can I can too." I whispered.
David's face lit up with a small smile but he seen that I was worse than him about being afraid. David never really had been the one to take the brute force of dad until recently.
Mom and I had always been the two to take the brunt of his rash mood swings or drunken state. I think about all the times he's hit and left bruises or broken something of mine or mom's.
I frowned and stood back up and thought about all of the times he's beaten all of us and looked at Brayden. He smiled hesitantly but noticed my change in demeanor.
"What are you thinking about, darling?" Brayden asked, kind of curious about what I was wondering about.
"I'll do it. I'll let you train me if you help me keep David away from our dad."
"Deal, but I want you to go out on a date with me next Friday."
I gasped.
