Jaxyl
We look at one another, slightly panicked.
"Shit," I curse. "We have to keep moving."
"Yes, come on," he starts to bound down the steps.
"Everyone ignore the alarms and keep searching. We are not leaving without our pack members. Take down anyone who steps in your way if necessary." I tell my pack members. "Those who are on lookout, hold down the front. If backup is needed, I will not hesitate to call."
I assume Bryce is doing the same as he is silent for a minute. We push the door open to the second floor, immediately starting to search. To make it even quicker, he takes up the second hall on the floor.
"Nothing," he tells me.
"Same here," I reply.
My wrist buzzes and the watch glows purple. It's the lookouts who were assigned to scope the border and the Barbaric's guard quarters.
"Alpha Kenner," I answer.
"Alpha, the alarms at the prison have alerted the guards. They are assembling groups. It seems they are about to head out to the prison and the border too."
"They're going to secure their border. Alert the officials. Tell them to prepare and send back up."
I practically kick in the door as I made it to the third floor. Bryce and I searched every door again.
"I'm beginning to think they aren't down here," I say.
"Maybe they are on the above floors," Bryce suggests.
"Alpha? I'm finding traces of Darius' scent." Niro's voice enters my head.
"Where?"
"Third floor above. The scent is not strong here, I think he may be on the fourth."
"Keep looking. I'm coming up there." I tell her, then inform Bryce.
We bolt back up the stairs once we hit the stair case. We don't hear any fighting yet but we do hear erratic footsteps throughout the halls. It is probably the workers in the prison since guards aren't necessarily needed inside. The prisoners do not leave their cells unless for medical reasons. From what I'm told, they hardly even receive that privelage.
From the outside, the prison isn't as secure as a prison should be. Hence why it was so easy for us to get in. That doesn't make me doubt their abilities though. It makes me even more weary of Kryllen. It would be slight work for one of the Barbaric members to break in here and help a prisoner escape but they are so afraid of their alpha that they are not willing to attempt it.
It isn't long before I hear distant, shouting voices. My guess is that it's few Barbaric guards that have made it on scene before others arrive. We have to hurry.
We make it to the second floor above, still in the staircase. I hear fleeing footsteps bounding down the stairs, and smell fear. It's likely a worker. The person came into view and indeed it is.
Terror covers her face as she backs away. "P-please don't hurt me," she begs, her entire body trembling. "I don't even want to be here."
"We are not here to hurt you," Bryce assures her. "Your alpha is holding two of our people hostage and we are here to get them. That's all."
"Do you know anything about a baby being here? He's pale skinned, and has dark hair. He looks like the two of us, have you seen him."
"A baby?" she questions in utter confusion. "In here? No, I haven't. He doesn't usually lock up babies," she shakes her head.
