Paper Boats

Chapter 1

                  The clock struck 8.30 and Elcin hastily finished putting mascara and dabbed some foundation onto her face. She was never late until today but it seems she will tick the box today. It is a very busy time in the office and if she gets caught by her supervisor it won't look well. She grabbed her shoulder bag and hurriedly left her apartment. There is still one hour left and it seems like she can make it on time. Elcin mentally patted her shoulder as she ran towards the bus stop. 

            "Good Morning Renner" She wished the security guard as usual and he waved his hand back smiling as he was busy on the phone. 

             Elcin suddenly halted.

            "Nope, Not again" She scrambled inside her bag for her phone. It seems like she forgot it inside AGAINNNN. Muttering curses under her breath Elcin ran back to her apartment. She is not a scatterbrain or a klutz but somehow she always forgets things when she is in a hurry. Well, it happens with everybody, right? That's why she makes a list of things she has to take with her and even preparing beforehand. But seems like nothing is helping her today. 

            After all the scurry hurries, she was lucky to be just in time to catch the subway that too because it was two minutes late. It was the usual rush hour so she couldn't get a seat and Elcin leaned on to the stanchion and tried to relax. 

           She was working as an assistant editor in Phoneix Books. They are a big name in publication business with branches all over the world. It was her dream to work in a publishing house. She always loved reading books but getting involved in the making of a book was so meta. She loved her job and she was lucky to be in such a big company. It has already been one year here. These days they were conducting a program to scout new talents and there was a lot of work to be done. She mentally groaned looking at her watch knowing that she will be late today. 

             "Three more stops to go, three more" she tapped her leg impatiently. The train stopped and people rushed in and out. Elcin scooted over to the side when she saw a seat was vacant but soon gave it up when an elderly person came near her. That's when she noticed the young man standing opposite her who was scrolling through his phone. He was handsome of course, with a five' O clock shadow stubble, strong and well-defined jawline,  messy hair which gives him a manly yet a boyish look. He was biting his lips while cocking his eyebrow and all the while scrolling through his phone. Elcin's mood brightened a bit, nothing going good but at least she could see a good male specimen this morning. That was when she noticed the guy sneaking glances to her side. No, not to her but to another lady sitting on her side.  Wearing a red top with a low neckline and shorts, she is rather pretty. "But isn't he glancing little too much, like a creep." Elcin couldn't help scoffing. She wanted to interfere but thought better against it since her stop was almost here and she is running out of time. 

            The train stopped and there were a lot of people to get down there including the 'creepy' guy. She side-eyed him and he was still looking at the red lady who was now standing in front of her to get down. For a brief moment, it looked like the creepy guy was staring at her but she decided to move forward and that's when she saw his hand moving towards the lady. Elcin couldn't hold back anymore and she caught his hand but he jerked forward and both of them stumbled out of the train. He threw her hand off and moved forward to the lady who was walking towards the end of the platform. Elcin caught his jacket again and pulled him, "pervert" she loudly spat at him. The man was glaring at her face and if glares could kill she would have been down at that instant. He looked like he was about to say something but she just walked off leaving the guy fuming behind.
