“... He did it again.”
A gaze at the front door of the shop couldn’t be averted. Still thinking about a person who closed it lately. Lon didn’t know who he was. But one thing that she knew: that man always come to this bakery, but never buy anything. All he did was inhaling deeply and walk back out. Every morning. Lon couldn’t find the meaning of it.
The desire to ask was distracted her mind from the first. Unfortunately, Lon always feel like can do it. Feeling uncomfortable just by thinking about what will she say. Beside of that, that man looked like always show the stoic face. Even though he was kind of handsome, but it would be wasted because that facial expression. Another reason why she couldn’t ask until now.
“Lon-chan, the breads are done!”
A calling from the baking room stopped her daydream. Lon walked in to meet the baker. A bright smile carved on her face. The sweet and cheerful voice could be heard after she entered the room. “Thanks! Just pass them to me.”
Lon received a tray of new-baked breads from the baker without any word, but a warm smile. Some words couldn’t be said by Lon, because the bell sound was interupting them. An alert that someone was entering the shop and they surely knew it right.
“You should hurry, Lon-chan.”
“I know, I know. I’m counting on you again for the next tray, Macco-san!”
Realizing that Macco wouldn’t say any other word, Lon walked out, getting ready to greet someone that may be the customer. Not forgetting her best smile, the bright and friendly one. It was still morning after all.
“Welcome to our bakery, Sir! Fortunately, you come at the right time. Here, we have a new-baked bre–eh? You again?”
Lon blinked repeatedly, making sure that her eyes didn’t deceive herself. In front of her, now, there was a familiar man. With a stoic face, but with this distance, Lon realized that it was more like sleepy face. But, that wasn’t something which suprised her. That man, for the first time, really entered this bakery. Did he decide to buy after those single morning visit?
“... That was how you welcome a costumer?”
The low voice with sarcatic tone could be heard after she stop blinking. Kind of disgusting, but Lon wouldn’t mind it. It was her fault for being unfriendly and look like unpleasant with the man’s appearance.
Lon cleared her throat and showed her best smile, trying to be friendly again. He was her costumer. As an owner, she should give the best service and experince in this bakery to him. “I’m so sorry, Sir. So, may I help you with something?”
“I wanna buy some breads for sick person.”
The guess was right. His tone wasn’t sarcatic like before, but still low and so calm. Lon felt like won’t forget that voice. Her smile was soothening, showing an emphaty. “Someone who you know is sick? I’m so sorry to hear that. But here, we have cornbread. People usually give wheat bread, but you can try it! It’s sweet and not hard to be swallowed!”
“Uh, well... My friend is sick.” The man was a little bit confused, not used to have a sudden friendly conversation with a stranger. Even he didn’t know what expression that should be showed. He ended up ask anything else, “So, how many do it cost?”
