Amaya's POV

"Who's next?" The librarian asked, looking up from the list she was writing.

"It's me, Mrs. Forbes." I told her, with a sweet smile on my face.

"Of course it's you Amaya." She smiled, writing down my name.

"We can't manage without our main volunteer now, can we?"

"I would always be willing to help ma'am." I replied.

"Now go on, go inside."

As I walked inside the hall I looked down at my phone.

Okay, I had to do this.

*ring ring*

"Hello?"

"Hello sir, it's Amaya speaking."

"Yes Amaya, go on."

"I called to tell you that I can't manage today's shift. But I promise that I will work extra this week to make up for it."

"Ohh.... okay, I'll let the manager know. But be sure to work that extra shift."

"Yeah I will..... okay bye."

*click*

I couldn't believe I had done this again. I had barely managed to cover up for the shift that I'd missed last time. I don't know how I was going to manage it this time.

But how could the ever helpful 'Amaya' say no to volunteering for prom, right?

I looked up, observing what everyone was doing. On the opposite side of the room, I spotted my friends.

Rather my 'so called' friends. Whatever.....

Suddenly I felt someone spin me around. And then I was in his arms.

We pulled apart, and I flashed him a smile, expecting him to say something.

But instead he cupped my face, tilting it up towards him, and kissed me. It was a very sweet, slow-paced kiss.

"Hey D." I said, as we pulled apart.

"Hey, A." He replied, and started laughing

"Ewww..... that sounds so weird. Don't you dare call me that again."

At that, being the stupid person he was, he just flashed me a irresistible smirk.

Uhhh.....

"Awww..... you two are so cute!" Mia squealed.

And then pointing at me, "But that should not be the reason you ignore your bestie!" She exclaimed, as she hugged me.

Best friend, my ass.

My actual best friends, Nancy and Krystal, had shown me the mean comments that Mia had written about me, just yesterday.

She was such a backbitcher... if that was even a word.

But I couldn't say that to her now, could I? How could the ever sweet, star student, head cheerleader Amaya ever say anything mean to someone, right?

So instead I sweetly smiled at her, "Hey Mia! How's today going so far?"

"Oh you know... as usual, boring and so very normal."

With that we started doing our work- sticking balloons and decorative stuff everywhere.

After about 20 minutes of hard work, my arms had started to ache from holding them up for to long. As I was streching them out, I heard someone call out my name.
