Chapter One

Matthew and Molly

I Bet You...

Molly's POV

I walked down the stairs after coming home from the last day of a very boring week at school. I could here voices coming from the living room and my suspicion was confirmed when I saw my brother James and his best friend Matthew sitting on the coach "arguing". I say "arguing" because it was not really fighting. It was more like disagreeing over very stupid things.

I sat down on the chair and placed my school bag on the floor in front of me.

"Hey Boys!" I said, with a smile on my face. It sounded like I was talking to both of them but really, I was just talking to Matthew A.K.A. My crush for like 4 years. I had liked him since I was in grade 8 and he was in grade 9. I had met him when James brought him home after one of there football games in there freshman year. He was super duper attractive, smart, funny, nice, and super duper attractive. He had dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He was about 6 foot and had a 6 pack. How do I no that, you ask? Well due to the fact that last time I went over to his house to swim I almost passed out.

I was brought back to the present when I heard the boys STILL fighting! Looks like they didn't pay attention to what I said at all. I listened in on there conversation.

" She will never like you! " James yelled and Matthew. Ohhhh I wonder who they are talking about!

" You don't no that!! I bet you 10 dollars that if I kissed her right now that she would kiss me back!" What the heck! Who is this girl! And why is James so appalled to Matthew dating or even kissing her.

" Fine I take that bet! There is absoulotally no way she will kiss you back. You are just going to ruin your guys's friend ship! " James yelled in reply. Okay! It's one of his friends! I started running through the list of girls who I new where fiends with him and I didn't even realize that Matthew was walking towards my sitting figure in the chair. I continued contemplating in my head who he could like and only snapped out of my thoughts when I felt Matthews lips on mine. What the heck!??!?!? It took me a second but I finally kissed him back. After a couple seconds we pulled back and Matthew grinned at me. I smiled back and started doing a little happy dance in my head. My stomach was doing little flips and I couldn't keep the smile of my face.

" Pay up dude I won the bet! " Matthew exclaimed proudly. My heart dropped and tears welled up in my eyes and I stood up running up the stairs and to my room. I could faintly hear James yelling "Great job Dufus! You made her cry!"when I reached my room I closed the door and cursed the day that I told my dad I didn't need a lock on my door because we were a very open family. As long as my door was closed my brothers would knock on the door and if it was open they would just walk in. I sat down on my bed after changing into a pair of black sweat pants and a bright yellow tank top. I took my battered copy of Romeo and Juliet off of my bed side table. Romeo and Julie has always been my favorite book due to the hopeless romance in it.

I was about 5 pages in when there was a knock on the door. Before I could ask who it was Matthew entered my room.

" I could have been changing. " I told him after he closed the door. He rolled his eyes at me,

" But you weren't " he defended himself. I sighed before turning back to my book. My plan was to ignore him....it didn't work.

He sat down on my bed and turned his head to face me.

" So, are you going to tell me why you ran out of the room after we kissed? " he asked me. I continued ignoring him but he wouldn't have it.

" I'm going to sit here until you tell me. " he said to me.

" That's nice Matthew" I said to him, with a sigh before turning the page in the book. We sat there for five minutes with Matthew starring at me while I tried my very hardest to read the book.

With an exasperated sigh I turned around to face him and frowned.

"Fine! Do you really want to know that bad!?" I asked him. He nodded his head so fast that I'm surprised he didn't get whiplash.

"I ran out of the room because you kissed me for a bet. I like you Matthew, but it seems that you don't feel the same way." I told him. Tears where welling up in my eyes once again and I bit my tung to keep them from spilling down my cheeks. He looked hurt but I didn't care because he couldn't possibly be any more upset then I am.

" Molly, I only made the bet because I didn't know if you liked me or not. If I new you liked me I would have just kissed you. " he told me. My mouth formed an "O" shape and I mentally smacked myself in the face a couple times. I laughed nervously saying,

" We'll duh! I new that the whole time!... Pfft! " he laughed at me. It was quiet for a little and me Matthew and I continued staring straight ahead.

" Molly? " he said. " Will you be my girlfriend? " I grinned and turned my head to face him.

" YES!!!! " I yelled before jumping off the bed and doing a little happy dance. I could hear James laughing at me from my door...wait when did he get here? Oh who cares?

Me and Matthew are official and life , to me, is perfect!
