For all I've known, I've lived in the underground. Safe from giant beings called "Titans", but in danger of Military Police and thugs living in the underground. I don't know who my mother is, just like I don't know who my father is. I don't even know if they are alive. The only thing I know of them, is my name.
I've lived in the underground and survived in the underground for seven years. Eight in two days. For the first four years of my life, a woman had taken care of me since she had lost her child while giving birth. Her husband was no where to be seen. But after my fourth birthday, thugs had infiltrated the house and murdered her right in front of me. Leaving me to be on the streets with no one to care for me.
In two days I will turn eight. In two days, I will have survived in the underground for eight years. And in two days, will be my last day of living.
I have decided to commit suicide.
I don't even know how I've survived for this long, but I've managed. And I'm tired of it.
So in two days, I will make sure that it's the end of my life that comes.
But, for the first time, someone had stopped walking and turned towards me.
I looked up and saw a boy maybe around five years older than me with short black hair and dull blue colored eyes. Reaching out a hand towards me, I don't reach for it but give him a questioning look.
People in the underground don't care for others. So why is he holding his hand out to me?
"Are you going to take my hand or not? My name is Levi, and if you'll let me, I'll take care of you," the boy says.
Hesitantly, I reach out and take his hand.
After I've stood from my position, Levi asks, "What's your name?"
"Erina. Erina Jaeger," my voice hoarse, but I manage to speak.
This is how I met Humanity's Strongest Soldier before he became the title.
Obviously, that was a long time ago.
