(Y/n) pov
I kind of felt defeated. Maybe I shouldn't have done a relay and just focused on freestyle. I jumped in the water and swam back and forth trying to improve my speed and form and taking all of Haru's very sparse pieces of advice.
It was starting to get dark. I could practice a few more laps. I didn't have much homework.
Makoto POV
After a long day of practice, I was tried and walked to go home. I walked back with Haru to his house I started to head back home via my usual route. The sun was starting to set and I was ready to go to bed.
When I walked back I saw Tosh walking back worried.
"Hey, Makoto have you seen (y/n) I went to her house and she wasn't here. Have you seen her?"
"No why didn't she leave with you?"
"Umm we left and she wanted to stay behind and practice."
"Oh,"
I didn't know if I should go and find her. Would that be weird?
"Makoto, please can you check and make sure she's not dead. I feel so bad for leaving her I had homework and everything. I would go myself but my parents wouldn't let me, I need to get back right now."
"Oh umm okay," I said unsure.
I considered not going. She would probably be fine anyway, but then I remembered when she helped me and then I started to feel a little guilty. I started to head back in the direction of the school.
(Y/n) pov
After I swam the last lap I was really tired. I went to the bench and sat down and stared at the sky then I pulled out my phone and told my parents I was heading home soon. Then I started to drift off to sleep. 'NO!' I said slapping myself. 'You can not fall asleep!'
'No...need...to...get...hom...'
Makoto pov
I pulled out by phone and turned on the flashlight. Since it was dark out I couldn't shake the eerie feeling. It was pitch black even though it was only 8. Maybe I should call Haru to do with me? No, it will probably be a waste of time.
My flashlight was the only thing illuminating my path. I nervously paned my flashlight across the pool. I didn't hear and splashes, so I'm assuming she wasn't there.
"(Y/n)?" I said faintly. I really wanted to hear her call back. I didn't want to be here alone.
"(Y/n)?" I called slightly louder.
Maybe she already walked home? I don't know why I wouldn't have seen her through. I pulled out my phone and tried to call her. I clicked on her contact and it started to ring. An area on the bench lit up but I didn't see her. She must have left her phone here. I walked over to it to pick it up. When I reached over I saw a person!
I screamed super high pitched, but then I stopped myself. It was (y/n)...I didn't recognize her at first. When I screamed she jolted awake.
"Omfg Tosh you scared me," She said groggily.
"I'm not-" I started then she jumped on my back.
"Holy crap why are you wearing high heels? I get you to want to look good and all but for gosh sake it's pitch blackout."
"I'm not-" I try saying again.
"I don't want to hear your bs apologies or excuses. Please just take me home." She said with all her words running together and yawning a ton.
Then she rested her head on my shoulder. I decided to not wake her up she's clearly out of it. I walked fast she honestly wasn't even that heavy. I looked to the side at her face, she looked kind of cute when she slept.
When I was probably about 5 minutes from her home (y/n) woke up.
"What the f*ck who are you?!" She started punching me on the back which hurt a ton.
"Please don't kidnap me I'm too young to die!" She said crying. "I knew I shouldn't have fallen asleep!"
"Shh!" I said coving her mouth "Someone is going to think your in tro-!"
"Oh my god!" I screamed. I really should have thought that through she freaking bit me!
"It's me Makoto!" I yelled in pain letting go of her.
She fell and immediately got up. "Wtf why where you giving me a piggyback ride!?"
"Me?! You jumped on my back! I only came back because Toshi told me too!"
She bite her lip and started to rock back and forth. Then she started to giggle.
"What..."
"It's just I'm glad you actually reacted and didn't do your dumbass smile!" And she turned and started walking away.
What did she mean by that?
"Hey!" I called. Running after her. "What do you mean my stupid smile? Do you think my smile is stupid?" I say sadly.
"No your smiles cute." She said casually.
"It's just it's nice to see more than one emotion."
"Oh..."
"You can walk home with me..." she said. "It's dark anyway."
Then we both walked home and I couldn't get her out of my head.
