unfinished buisness

chapter 1

It will be fine. i feel as though this is the millionth time i have told myself this today. Today is the day i go back, back to all the  

people i have come to know and love over the past six months. My name is Katie. I live with my Mum, Dad and brother Michael. I'm nothing special. I go through my everyday life the same as any other teenager. I deal with heart break, friends, family and whatever else life wants to throw at me.

I'm dreading going back to the pool tables in town because it means seeing him again. i know what your thinking 'oh great another pathetic girl that has boy issues' in some ways this is true, but in others it is some what unique. Let me take you back to the beginning.

''Hey Mya.'' Katie says to her dog whilst gently patting her on the head, on her way upstairs to her bedroom.

As soon as she walks in her phone buzzes on her dresser. *bzzzz* *bzzzz*

Hey Katie, are you going to be in town today? It's been a while since we hung out. :) x

 

Her stomach did a flip and she quickly replied to the text from Josh.

Hehe maybe I'll do my best to be there. x

and he replied to her text just as fast.

No you have to come, cos you missed me so much? ;) x

You persuaded me :P what time? x

Now !! haha x

Okay see you when i can x

 

And that is how it begun. Who new one short text conversation could possibly change so much?

''Come on Nicky just this once? please? I promise i will never ask again. Don't you love me at all?''

Katie begged giving Nicky her biggest puppy dog eyes whilst pouting her lip. After Katie got the text from Josh she headed straight over to her best friends house, needing her advice luckily her closest friend since practically birth lived next door.

''fine. I'll go with you to the stupid pool tables so that you can flirt with Josh.'' Nicky said ruefully but with a slight smirk on her face, as when she mentioned flirting and Josh in the same sentence Katie blushed and threw a pillow at her friend. Nicky skillfully plucked the pillow out of the air before it could make contact with her face.

''Going to have to try better than that Katie'' Nicky said smiling.

''Come on Nicky nothing like that is going on with me and Josh. I barely know him. We have met i think a grand total of two times''

''Both of which he couldn't stay away from you.''

''Both of which he spent a lot of the time with those girls that figure skate.'' Katie replied with a hint of jealousy in her voice.

''Okay thats it spill. What is actually going on with you and Josh and spare me the crap about it being nothing, because clearly there is something your not telling me.''

''Look its nothing just...well do you remember when i first met him? It was at that party we went to, he was there with Troy.''

''Skip the part about him thank you very much.'' Nicky said with a grimace. Troy and her went out for a while then things fell apart and they broke up.

''Okay well after that we started texting for the night. Then we didn't talk for a while, then i ran into him at the pool tables with a few people.''

''And? what happened?''

''Nothing. I kinda started liking him, but didn't see him again or talk to him so i stopped.''

''Well then lets see if you can rekindle your love for one another.'' Nicky said in her most drama queen voice sending them both into fits of giggles on Nicky's bed.

 

When the pair arrived at the pool tables Nicky went off to get some drinks for herself and Katie ''Coke please!'' Katie yelled over her shoulder at Nicky then receiving a quick nod as her friend continued walking away.

''Katie!!!!'' She turned around in time to see the owner of the scream of deleight before being tackled in a hug from her friend Evie.

''Oh my god !! Josh told me you were coming but i didn't believe him !! what's it been? eight months?'' Evie exclaimed.

''I know it's been a long time, how have you been?''

As the two girls caught up, a lot of talking was happening at the other side of the room between two boys.

''I didn't think she would come.'' Josh said to Zack.

''Who is she? when did you meet her?'' he asked not paying much attention to his aim when taking his shot in the game of pool against Josh.

''I met her at this party a while back, her names Katie she's pretty cool, a good laugh.''

''Anything happen at this party? if ya know what i mean'' Zack asked whilst winking and nudging him in the side with his elbow.

''Na man, I mean we are just friends nothing more nothing less.''

''whatever you say bro, but if you do want her you better act fast she won't be single for long.''

''You heard what I said, she can be with anyone I don't mind.''

Or will I? She is quite beautiful, and we do have a laugh...na I barely know the girl best to stay as friends. Josh thought as Katie, Evie and Nicky walked over to the two guys.

exclamations of ''heys'' directed at different people occured around them, then Kaite and Josh saw eachother. An instant spark formed between the two as they hugged to say hello, lingering a little longer than average friends would, Katie on her tip toes to reach around his neck. When they seperated Katie blushed a pinky red stepping back away from him.

''How have you been.?'' Katie asked politely.

''Good, what about you? we haven't talked properly for a while.''

''I know it seems like forever.''

''Not to break up this beautiful catch up setion, but we have a game to play!!'' Zack cut in before Josh could reply.

''I'll be right there Zack.'' Josh told to Zack as he walked the few metres from the seats to the table with a cue in hand. ''Sorry he wants to finish the game, We can catch up after maybe go get a drink from the counter?''

''Sure good luck with the game.'' Katie replied smiling up at him.

With a slightly giddy smile Katie sat down with Nicky and Evie and a few other people she is yet to meet.

''Katie, this is Justin, Sarah, Becca, Mitchel, Blake and Danny.'' Evie informed Katie.

a unison of hey's from the different people she just met were directed at her and then their conversation continued.

What was that about? Katie thought thinking back to her hug with Josh.

Katie and Josh ended up hanging out for the rest of the day with the rest of the group, but only had eyes for each other. Katie didn't know if Josh was as affected by her presence as she was of his, he made her feel butterflies in her stomach every time she glanced his way and he was starring at her.

As Katie and Nicky were about to leave to go home he scooped her up in a big hug once again lingering a little longer than average friends would.

''Look I'm sorry we didn't get to catch up, come see me here in a few days and i promise we can have a game together, just you and me?'' Josh said to Katie still holding her in his arms.

''That sounds great, we can hang out and i get to kick your ass at pool.'' Katie replied with a grin on her face.

''Ah yeah? why so confident about winning? na I'll go easy on you.'' He said with a smirk and playfully stuck his tongue out at her.

''Cos' you haven't seen me play.'' She said back to him whilst walking away, leaving him there with an unknowing smile.
