The sun rose. Son Chaeyoung felt a ray of it hit her face. She rolled in her bed, wondering what day it was. That was when it hit her. "Ergh... a Monday.." she mumbled as she slowly got to her feet. She rubbed her eyes and checked the time. Her wall clock said it was 12:24. Chaeyoung went to brush her teeth and take a shower. When she came back, she headed downstairs and poured herself a bowl of cereal, as she didn't know what else she could have. When she paid close attention to the cereal box, she remembered when she used to have that same cereal during her childhood days. But she was too hungry to think about her childhood, so she quickly ate the cereal, poured another bowl full, and when she finished that, she went back upstairs to her bed. She lied down and closed her eyes. Now's the right time to think about childhood, she thought. She just waited. Then came the memories, as if flying back into her head.

"Chaeyoung! Come and play with us!" shouted Chou Tzuyu and Kim Dahyun, Chaeyoung's 2 best friends. "Coming! Just let me put my stuff on the hook!" Chaeyoung shouted back. Keep in mind, they were in the first grade at the time. At last, Chaeyoung got all her stuff on the hook (she was short for her age) and ran to where her friends were. On her way there, she heard some loud noises coming from the Grade 2 playing area. Chaeyoung slowly approached the noise makers. She finally found out who was making the noises. Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook, who were in the second grade, were teasing another second grader, a girl who Chaeyoung recognized as Myoui Mina, about her new shirt. "Blue is not for you! It's only for boys," said Taehyung, as Jimin and Jungkook sniggered. Chaeyoung knew they hadn't seen her yet, but she wanted to see if they were bullying her or just friendly teasing, which it did not look like. It looked more like bullying. Still, Chaeyoung wanted to help this girl. "Yeah, Penguin!" said Jungkook, and the other boys laughed louder and louder. Chaeyoung scrunched her fists. She didn't like this scene, but she wanted to jump out at the right moment, which didn't seem like right now. Just then, Jimin stepped toward Mina. "Take that shirt off right now, or we'll have to rip it off of you!" Mina didn't move. She just put a hand to her mouth, quietly whimpering, small tears streaking down her face. Chaeyoung felt really bad for this girl. She thought to call a teacher, but she didn't want to leave, for fear of what might happen to Mina while she was gone. Instead, she decided to take matters into her own hands. "Not gonna take it off, are you, ehh?" Jimin said, taking another step towards Mina. "C'mon! Help me ri-!" Jimin was stretching an arm towards Mina's, but before he could even touch her, Chaeyoung jumped out in front of Mina and slapped Jimin's arm. "Stop this! This isn't nice!" Chaeyoung said, loudly. The three boys looked at each other. Jimin turned to Chaeyoung. "What are you doing here? Aren't you in Grade 1?" asked Jimin, in a serious voice. Jimin focused his attention back on Mina since Chaeyoung didn't reply. She just stood there, head held up high, using her bravery to try and help Mina. "Move out of the way! I said move!" Jimin yelled at Chaeyoung. Chaeyoung didn't budge. Jimin raised his hand to hit her, but before he could do something, Chaeyoung whispered to Mina, "On the count of three, run as fast as you can towards a teacher. I'll come with you." Mina nodded slightly. "Ready? One, two, THREE!" Chaeyoung shrieked as they ran off towards the nearest teacher they could see, who happened to be Ms. Kim Jisoo, their favourite teacher. Once they reached towards her, they took a quick glance behind them, and they could see the boys hadn't moved from where they had been earlier. They told Ms. Kim all about what happened with Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook, and how they were going to rip Mina's shirt off. After they told all of this to Ms. Kim, Ms. Kim marched away towards the boys to have a talk with them. "Thanks, Chaeyoung.... but you really didn't have to-" Mina said, but Chaeyoung covered Mina's mouth with her own hand and said, "Of course I had to. If I didn't hear the loud noises and didn't come to investigate, your shirt would have been ripped and what else could have happened was dangerous, if you ask me." Chaeyoung told her. "Chaeyoung! Where were you all this time?" said Tzuyu, running towards Chaeyoung with Dahyun right behind her. Chaeyoung explained to the two what had happened. Tzuyu gasped, and Dahyun clapped a hand to her mouth when they heard what had delayed their playtime with Chaeyoung. "Anyways, I'm Tzuyu, and this is Dahyun." Tzuyu said as she stuck out a hand. Mina shook it with a smile on her face, then waved at Dahyun. "I'm Mina, nice to meet you three."

Chaeyoung opened her eyes. Now those weren't really the memories I wanted to remember, but OK. she thought to herself. As the years passed and she grew up, she still maintained her friendships with Tzuyu and Dahyun, and she even started one with Mina. She maintained the three friendships surprisingly well, and before long she and Mina had become very good friends. Chaeyoung quickly got out of her bed and checked the time. It was 4:30. She went downstairs to prepare her lunch. Those weren't really good memories. The only part which was good was the part where I met Mina unnie. But, they were memories, after all... thought Chaeyoung as she walked downstairs.
