Of coarse Marshall hated that he left.
"Oh, oh~"
He should of stayed, bugged Gumball out of his mind.
"Please~ don't see.... Just a boy caught up in dreams and fantasies..."
This was all turning down the wrong path very fast.
"Please~ see me...."
One minute they're strolling along, side by side occasionally pushing each other into bushes, and the next....
"Reaching out for someone I can see. Take my hand, let's see where we wake up tomorrow."
They're on different worlds entirely.
"Best made plans, sometimes are just a one night stand~"
"Stupid... Gumwad...." Marshall was holding back the pain that was building inside his heart.
"I'd be damned- Cupid's demanding back his arrow. So let's get drunk~ on... Our....Tears~
And god. Tell us the reason; youth is wasted on the young. It's hunting season, and the lambs are on the run.... Searching for meaning. But are we all...
Lost
Stars...?
Trying to light-up-the-dark..?"
With every breath, his heaving chest would become a little bigger. Until it would burst all together. His midnight hair swayed in the wind as he darted back to his cave. Marshall learned that his home was the only place he could get away. He could do what ever he wanted. He was free there. Most importantly, nobody toyed with his emotions inside the safety of the walls.
He didn't want to admit that Gumball meant so much to him. The king didn't want to admit his passion. He didn't want to feel. At least, not this. Not the pain and heartache that was weaving throughout his body. All Marshall wished, was for this horrifying feeling to vanish. He wanted to talk to Bubba. Like they used to. No fighting, no harsh tones, no insults, no confusion. But he knew that was not going to happen. They've lost their spark. They've lost their hope. The two that were once so close, where farther apart than ever.
"Why?" Marshall began speaking to himself as his forehead rested on the wall. Each small bump, paint mistake, and crack was a story. How it came to be. What made up these walls that now surrounded the vampire? Sometimes the smallest things, turn into the simplest and most wonderful things. His fingertips gently grazed the solid. He sighed heavily and ran his hand through his hair.
It was messy, but the kind of messy that suited the boy. The slight curl in each strand was apart of him. No matter how small the detail, it was apart of who he was. Gumball taught him that. The prince taught him a lot of things. Everyone of them was more special and deeper than the last. That's what Marshall loved. Well, one of the things he loved about the prince.
The truth is, Marshall truly loved Gumball. His best friend was the missing piece of his heart. He had lost a piece of his heart and without it, he would no longer survive. He needed it back, wanted it back.
"I need him back." Was the last thing he said before falling asleep in his warm, soft bed. Marshall drifted into a land full of his wildest dreams and greatest loves. How peaceful was this? Being able to escape reality for a few moments. Creating your own story. New, or recreating an old one. It was one of the greatest things about this world.
Dreaming was obviously an amazing thing.
