Gamora was swinging Godslayer, when all of a sudden, the wind around her literally blew away the minion of Thanos she was swinging at. She turned around just in time to see Thanos desintegrate. Her heart only felt slightly shattered, sure, he was a homicidal maniac, but he was her father figure.
She saw the hero that saved them all, Tony Stark, leaning on a wall, looking bloody. No mortal could possibly wield the power of all 6 stones at once. She used her remaining bursts of energy to run toward the huddle of people, and ended up standing near the princess of Wakanda, Shuri. As the light in Tony's reactor turned off, she saw people begin to kneel, without even realisng it, she was kneeling on the ground. He saved them all.
In a blur of the moment, she was back on a ship, unfamiliar to her, but it should have been familiar. Her future self lived here. She stood next to Mantis, arms crossed, in a position of power as Peter and Thor argued about switching the map screen, and then "agreed" on leadership positions. Gamora kept a frown on her face, and saw both men turn to look at her. She shook her head disapprovingly.
As everyone else washed up and went to their sleeping quarters, Gamora found herself staring out the huge window, at the stars and galaxies and nebulas and moons and planets. Overall, it was beautiful, and she could see why that alternate self picked the job.
"Hey, Gamora." a rough voice said behind her.
"Hello, Rocket." she answered.
Rocket approached and stood next to her. Gamora ran a hand through her black and pink hair, twirling and end through her fingers.
"Do you, uh, want the rundown?" he asked, sounding hesitant to ask.
"No thanks. Nebula gave it to me. I'm a little uncomfortable for now, but....I...well. I'll get used to it. And uh, I do have a few questions about any threats you guys have diminished." Gamora said, in a softer voice than usual.
"Yeah, sure."
"When I was....working with Thanos, we had a few planets come up as huge threats. The biggest was one called Ego. Have you dealt with that?" she asked, looking down at her new partner.
"Oh yeah, yeah. Years ago. Ego was Peter's father, and he came and took you...r other self, Peter, and Drax. It didn't end well, but now we have Mantis on our team." Rocket said, nodding out the window.
"And...when did Peter and I....get together?" she asked, sort of hesitant to ask a question like that to such a formidable teammate.
"Um, I think that same year we dealt with Ego's planet, maybe 2017."
"Oh, okay. So, a solid two years and then....Thanos."
Rocket nodded and said his goodbye and went off to his sleeping quarters. Gamora decided she better turn in. She had no idea what time she was expected to wake up. Little did she know, 1) Peter was hiding as best he could, listening to their conversation and 2) Peter woke everyone up by blasting the chorus to "Wake Me Up Before You Go" throughout the whole ship.
She shut the sliding door to her quarters and took off her battle clothes, and found the pair of black linen pants and black tank top everyone got for sleeping. She put them on and climbed onto the bed she was assigned. Gamora stared at the ceiling, sighing deeply, until she heard the soft accent of Mantis.
"Miss Gamora, please stop sighing. Please. It makes me distracted. I cannot sleep. I am sorry."
"Sorry. You can just call me Gamora." she said, and breathed a little quieter, and fell into a slumber. She vaguely heard something ringing through the whole ship a few hours later, but she still slept. When she did finally wake up, she hopped down from the bunk, and saw Mantis was gone. She put on the lock and started getting dressed. Her regular pants, a pink shirt, the long coat of leather that ended near her knees and her heels.
