He had thought it would be fun, performing with Eddy, but it was turning out to be more than he thought possible. The goofy skits were as hilarious as always, the giddiness that bubbled between them making itself known in their beaming smiles. The cheering and laughter of the audience only amplified this until Brett felt it warming his entire being. Their audience would love it, mistakes and all.

And then they'd play together. The very shivering vibrations that had brought them together in the first place. The best part was they could play freely, let the music pour in wild passion rather than wary measure. They swayed and they grinned, calling and answering each other in a playful way. The entire hall was a symphony of skittering heart beats and whole body shivers as the violinists reached, with rich needy notes, toward the climax. They followed each other in a dance that became less of an act and more involuntary, they built the peak together centre stage. With the last bow flourish they were poised like dance partners, exertion and accomplishment bright in their locked eyes. If there was something else in that gaze it was left behind with that last fading note as the clapping and cheering started.

Eddy turned first to the audience followed a second later by Brett who had forgotten where they were for that little moment. With equal grins they bowed.

They waved goodbye to their fans as they moved off stage. Brett stretched, rolling his neck with a yawn when they made it back stage. It was criminal being so tired when it had only just gone four.

"That was amazing, the last one." Brett said the pleasure of use rolling through his limbs. He rubbed at his eyes nearly dropping his glasses. "I'd fall dead asleep in those romantic phrases if we had another one today."

Eddy grinned and pulled a cloth from his case and wiped rosin from the wood and strings of his violin. His caring fingers soft on his beloved instrument. Brett really must've been tired to be thinking like that, Eddy's fingers were only ever stupid and forever making chakra signs.

"You always fall asleep in them Bretty Brett, that's just you." Eddy said cheekily, Brett grumbled at the nickname and then the last bow was secured.

One of their stomachs rumbled.

"Celebratory dinner?" Eddy piped up cheerfully, way more awake than he had any right to be.

"I'm listening?" Maybe it wasn't over just yet.

After the meet and greet, a lot of grins, shared laughs and pictures later they made it out. Violins secured to their backs and a promise of food ahead, they set off walking.

There conversation lingered on video ideas and pieces they had heard, but centred around the show and what they could do to bring it to the next level. There was hopeful talk of future tours, both of them remembering the moment when they finally knew they were taking their passion on the road. Silence between them was filled with the noise of traffic as the walked on, violin cases bumping in that perfectly annoying way.

The clanging and shouts from the construction site to their right left little space for words. A particularly loud buzz saw piped up and Eddy rolled his eyes at Brett, mouthing 'violas' with a deadpan that could rival Brett's own. The shorter laughed, slapping his friend's arm unable to contain the hilarity. He had to be dead tired to be laughing this hard at one of these stupid jokes. Eddy looked pleased with himself and chuckled while he attempted to stop Brett from falling over.

Brett wiped his eyes and looked up at his friend, something over Eddy's shoulder drew his attention. One of the orange high-vis guys on the terrifying scaffolding was waving his hands about and shouting at who ever was controlling the crane. He'd hate to be that other guy, must be stressful enough crammed in that tiny box and operating the freaking giant arm. It made his nerves fire up just looking at it.
