It was a bright, sunny afternoon. My friends, Taqui and Encou, were standing at a tall lamppost.
"Hey, you ready to go?" Encou questions, quickly glancing at his watch.
Taqui cuts me off before I can speak. "You better be! We've been waiting for hours!"
Encou rolls his eyes, obviously tired of his older brother's ranting. He may be younger than Taqui, but that means nothing. Although he is only 8, Encou is far smarter than his sibling. He is able to build things very quickly, and that's always a good thing. He also is normally a better choice-maker.
Taqui, on the other hand, is much stronger and older than Encou and I. He's 13, so he's normally the one to keep us safe on our walks through town. Although he jumps into things without thinking, he's a good asset to our group of friends when we're in a pinch.
And then, there's me.
Regular, 10 year old, Taco. Sadly, I can't make things without studying an instruction booklet for hours, and I'm not very strong either. Although, I have a feeling that today that'll change. But I get that feeling every day.
"Alright, alright. Yeah, I'm ready." I finally respond.
We begin to run down the street, with every so often having to stop and wait for Encou to catch up to us, because he always trips on his long, black trenchcoat. The large town we live in, Tamalia, is easy to find our way around, despite the size. We eventually make it to our favorite spot in town, a small pawn shop. Every sunday, after chores, we go down to the shop to look at the strange items and trinkets they have. It's nice, because instead of it only being a trade shop with things that people traded, people ship their items there. We burst into the shop, pushing each other out of the way to find the coolest items.
"Welcome back, boys! We just got a new shipment of things, so today is a good day to come!"
I glance over, to see the shop owner. He's a short, old Burrito man with a small, gray beard. He moved down to Tamalia a few months ago, but his shop became popular only a bit after that.
"Hey, Taco! Look at this!" I look over to see Taqui shout.
I walk over to him, and see a long metal staff with a red gem on top.
"Now, now. Don't
