Hope you enjoy Chapter 1!!

------------------------------------------------

It was 6:30 in the morning and I still couldn't go to sleep. My head was throbbing and my side was aching in pain. Yesterday Canden punched me for "disrespecting" him. I turned my body around, not facing the stranger that lye next to me. Giving up trying to shut my eyes, I tried to slide out of bed slowly without waking him up. Luckily he didn't wake up. I stood up grabbing my cellphone off the table.

I walked quietly to the bathroom shuting the door behind me. I dialed my mom's phone number hoping she would pick up. Finally after the fourth ring I heard her voice.

"Hello?"

"Hi mom." I said softly.

"Oh hi sweet heart. You alright?" I wanted to say no so badly but I bit my tongue.

"Yeah I'm fine." I felt like crying. I wanted to tell her everything that's been happening lately, but I knew if I told my mom, she would tell. And if my dad or my brother found out about this I can't imagine what they would do to Canden.

"Well is Anna ok?"

"Yes shes' fine too."

"Not to be rude Gabby. But, why are you calling so late?"

"I just missed you that's all."

"Aw, I missed you too honey. When are you coming to visit?" She asked.

Ever since Canden changed he always suspicious when I go out thinking I was cheating on him because one of his friends assumed they saw me with a guy. One night I came home with Anna from visiting my family and he thought I was out with a guy and that I introduce Anna to the guy. I told him over and over again that I was with my family but he didn't believe me. I was mad because he believed his friends over me. After the arguing he told Anna to go upstairs in her room. I was shaking because I knew what he was going to do. He slapped me hard across my face leaving a reddish mark. After that I stop visiting my family and friends in fear he might do it again.

"Umm..I don't know." I replyed

"Your family really wants to see you, Anna, and Canden."

"Well, I'll have to talk to him about that." I heard her yawn over the phone.

"Ok honey, i'm gonna go back to sleep now."

"OK mom, love you."

"Love you too." She hung up the phone, I glanced at the time, "7:00" it read. The sun was raising so I decided to just stay up. I turned the sink on and splash some cold water on my face. I pulled my hair into a messy bun and open the bathroom door. I was surprised to see Canden up.

"Good morning." I said to him. He looked at me but didn't say anything. He stood up walking out of the room like I didn't exist.

I couldn't understand why he treated me so bad. He was never like this when we mean't. Now he has a short temper and I have to watch what I say or else he'll go off. I'm always trying to put some type of effort in this relationship. I know you're probably thinking I'm crazy but something inside me still loved Canden. Plus he's is a great father and I know how much he loves Anna. If I take her away from him, he'll have nothing.

A small voice shook me out of my thoughts. It was Anna yelling from her room. I rushed in there to find her on the floor.

"Sweetie what happen?" I picked her up off the floor and sat her on the bed.

"I had a scarwee dream." She rubbed her eyes. I moved her hair behind her ear before saying

"It was just a dream. Ok?"

"Yeah and I won't let those scary monsters hurt you." A voice said. I looked up to find Canden leaning in the door frame.

" Or mommy?" She asked.

"Yeah, mommy too." I felt a warm feeling inside when he said that. But I knew he was probably just saying this to make Anna feel better.

"See Anna, the monsters won't hurt us if daddys' here." Anna smiled kicking her feet back and fourth.

"Daddy can we go to the park today?" Anna asked.

"I'm sorry but daddy has to go somewhere today." He said. I watched as Anna's smiled faded. Canden didn't have to work today so where would he go that would be important enough to not spend time with his daughter.

"Where do you have to go?" I asked. He walked out of the room and into our room. I followed him. He was in the bathroom combing his hair.

"Where do you have to go?" I asked again.

"Work." He answered.

"You told me you don't work on Saturdays."

"Well now I do." He pushed past me walking to the closet.

"I know you're lying." I said. He ignored me.

"Where do you have to go?" My plan was to keep asking him and hopefully I will get an answer.

"Where do you have to go?"

"Where do you have to go?" I could tell he was getting annoyed.

"Where do yo-"

"I'm going out." He finally answered.

"With?"

"A friend." He said. I knew exactly what he mean't by "a friend".

And this friend wasn't a guy.
