It is a dank, rainy day. No light shone through the gray, almost black clouds. It had been pouring all day. The streets began to flood, water spilled from everywhere forming deep puddles and small rivers in the streets and on the sidewalk. You watched; cold, damp, hungry, and alone, sitting beneath a small ledge protruding out from the entrance of your favorite convenience store. It was times like these where you questioned, why this all was happening to you. But the more you thought about it, the more it didn't make sense. Still in hope of finding an answer to all your many questions, you started yourself back at the beginning; 2 years ago.
~Flashback~
"WHAT?!?!" You heard your mom yell. "They're fighting again, aren't they". You thought to yourself. "They're always fighting." It was sad for you to admit, but it was true. You learned to ignore the harsh bickering, but that didn't really make anything better. You were 18, but your parents refused to let you move out simply because they couldn't see why you would want to. You had everything. You lived in a large house, went to the best schools, and got just about whatever you asked for. Except one thing: Two parents who could be in the same room together without starting an argument. And that's what made you want to leave. But you couldn't. All you could do was plug you headphones in and turn up the volume as much as your ears could take. While it did work, It eventually damaged your hearing. It didn't matter to you though. You would give anything to solve your problem, or at least block it out for as long as you could. You raised one side of your headphones to hear if the dispute had been "settled". All you could hear was someone coming upstairs. "I guess they're done for now." You mumbled to yourself. That's when your mom came storming into your room. She slammed the door shut behind her. "We lost the house!" was the first thing out of her mouth. "What?!" You couldn't believe it. You didn't she could rap her head around it either. "Your dad, that fool, got drunk last night. He didn't explain much but basically he lost a bet to some guy. He bet the house, the cars, and half the money in his bank account. On what? I don't even know!" She rambled angrily while pacing back forth. It wasn't long before tears started streaming down her face. You got up and walked over to her to give her a very much needed, well deserved hug. She buried her face into your shoulder and sobbed gently. "What do we do now?" You asked in small voice. "I don't know." She replied defeated. Seconds later, dad strolled into the room. We both looked at him with sharp eyes. "I'm sorry girls." With that, he left... forever. Things were all that bad at first. You both stayed at a hotel and worked part time jobs. Eventually, you moved into an apartment. The landlord was very kind to both you. Especially your mom. They seemed to like each other. Or at least you thought so. You were happy to see her smiling again. You told her it was time to move on, so he asked her out on a date. They didn't want anything to fancy so they both decided on going to a bar. They laughed and talked all evening. The night was seemingly perfect. But on the car ride home, they got into and accident. Your mom was found decapitated, laying In street next to her lover. They wouldn't let you look in her casket at the funeral. You wished you could have seen her one last time. Since the landlord was dead, you weren't allowed in the apartment anymore. You were on your own now. Homeless and still working. After a while you got fired. You started showing up late, your smell disturbed your co-workers, and you were so tired you couldn't focus on what you were doing. And that brings you to where you are now.
