"of course not, sir."

yeonjun stood up and cleared his throat, as the captivated girls in the room stared at him.

"hello, everyone! i'm yeonjun, and i hope we all can become good friends. please take care of me!"

flashing a smile to his peers—knocking some out—the charismatic male took a seat.

she stared at him longingly.

why couldn't she so easily speak like that? how could he?

she wishes he would tell her his secrets for being the most perfect human she had ever laid her eyes—

"aera." a concerned hand waved in front of her face. "you gotta stop blanking out on me, dude. it's getting weird."

right.

she had forgotten about the annoying gremlin sitting next to her.

"i'm sorry, yeonjun." she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, mumbling a whisper. "what were you saying?"

"yeon-" kai's head shot up in confusion, before noticing how entrapped she was in the being next to her.

moving himself into her field of view, he shot her a disapproving frown. "hey, just because you're obsessed with him like every other girl in the room doesn't mean you get to mistake me for him! ..i'm obviously way better looking, aren't i?"

he cheekily muttered the last part in her ear, leaving her to face the front of the class and sulk in the levels of immaturity radiating from him.

a few minutes later, a soft voice serenaded her ears, causing her to perk up and sit straighter.

"excuse me, aera?"

"y-yes?" she asked softly, smiling a little upon seeing who it was.

"hi! do you think i could have your number? i would like to study together sometime later!" he beamed, his eyes creasing with pureness as he held out his mobile. "of course, it's alright if you don't want—"

she hastily grabbed the device out of his hands, before entering in her number without hesitation.

"oh, um.. sorry. here." she shyly held it out, as his skin grazed hers and left her cheeks searing like a wildfire.

yeonjun looked down at his phone with a grin as he let out a chuckle.

"ha! tell me you did not save your contact as 'girl next to me in finance.'"

she bashfully looked up at him with a little smile.

"that's cute." he beamed, as she felt her heart would stop working.

did he just call me-

..sir.

"ms. hwayoung! this is not a class for gossiping!" mr. park sighed at a few chattering students to his left. "please, pay attention!"

upon their teacher's irritation, yeonjun quietly scooted his chair closer to her.

"..so, how hard is this class exactly?" yeonjun leaned in as he began to whisper.

the heat of his breath by her ear sent shivers down her spine.

"i mean.. it's not that bad if you take notes and actually listen to mr. park." she mumbled back, failing to suppress a giggle.

"bleh! spare me your dramatic interactions," kai imitated a gag, as she elbowed him and looked back with a scowl before turning back to yeonjun with a dreamy gaze.

his skin care routine must be amazing.

"well, your help will be really appreciated, peaches." he shot her a wide grin. "i just wanted to say, let's study together soon!"

she felt her cheeks grow red at the mention of her newly coined nickname.

"yes, that would be um.. nice."

the sudden ring of the bell caught her off guard, as she jumped a little in her seat at the echoes of it around the lecture room.

"finally, it's over! get up scaredy-cat, you're going to miss the bus." kai lazily put his arms around his backpack straps, annoyingly poking at her shoulder.

"alright."

she sighed, giving yeonjun a farewell wave as she watched him leave with his fan club.

that study session would be so worth it just to see him again.

and, imagine if they got to touch hands. she would lose it on the spot.

"..you know, you really are an open book." kai looked down at her as they walked up towards the exit. "you're so distracted right now."

she couldn't help the roll of her eyes as a humorless laugh left her lips. "real funny, kamal."

"no, i'm serious. you know why?"

"sure. lay it on me."

"it's not that hard to get to know you. you just have to read between the lines."
