It was four something in the morning and Caleb could hear the soft patters of rain drops hitting his New York apartment's window. "Shhh, Autumn...You're okay..." Caleb desperately tried to soothe the three-month-old infant, with a defeated sigh, he stopped his rocking motions and sat on the edge of his full-sized bed. He gently swayed the baby girl, humming softly. The baby's cries started to stifle, whining to protest against Caleb's antics to put her to sleep before eventually falling underneath a light slumber.

Caleb let out a sigh of relief, finally winning the — almost three hours lasting — battle. He would've laid the baby down, anywhere, but she would simply wake up in anger, then the process would start over for another three hours. Caleb thought it'd be best to lay on his back, Autumn curled into a small ball on his chest while he securely held her. Around eight in the morning, Autumn stirred on top of Caleb, grunting and cooing to signal she was about to wake up utterly upset. Caleb slightly stretched out as he held her, heavily exhaling as he sat up.

"Okay, okay, you're going to get fed. You won't die in the next 7 seconds baby girl, hmm?" Caleb hummed, still groggy. He lifted his shirt, helping the infant latch on. He leaned on one hand as he was sitting up, nursing the infant, eyes closed. He didn't flinch as he heard the apartment door open and shut, but his eyes opened when a black curly headed boy stepped into the bedroom.

"Hey." He quietly greets with a soft smile due to the sight of the two. Caleb only hums in response, subconsciously swaying the two side-to-side with his eyes closed, exhausted enough to not even want to muster up a greeting and speak. Brandon peeled off his jacket, his shoes and shirt following. Brandon could most likely guess what the long night consisted of, so he knew Zion was beyond exhausted, the past two nights of the same thing were weighing down on him as a result of Autumn having an ear infection and slight cold.

"Work went smoothly so I didn't have to work as hard...These clients really don't know how to make up their minds..." Brandon started, Caleb nodded in acknowledgement, but his eyes popped open and one of his eyebrows lifted when the unoccupied left side of the bed dipped, "You're taking a breather before you shower...right?" Brandon paused, with one knee and both hands on the bed, he stopped mid-crawling across the bed. He chuckled a few seconds later, getting off the bed to stand to his feet again.

It was early enough to still be exhausted, but late enough for the sun to start rising. Caleb shuffled into the kitchen, Simba at his feet and Autumn curled within herself in Caleb's arms. Caleb heavily sighed as he made himself a cup of coffee, of course, he was going to be running on five hours of sleep because Brandon didn't tend to Autumn throughout the night like he said. Caleb shook his head, sometimes he wonders why he's even around if all he does is take up space and not accept any type — at least, some type — of responsibility.

It was almost 11 in the morning when Brandon finally came downstairs, "Simba, go put your toys up." Caleb commanded as he sat down with Autumn, about to eat his plate of breakfast.

"Good morning, baby." He kissed Caleb on the forehead, who didn't say anything, "Morning, little baby." It was Autumn's turn to get a kiss on the forehead. The puppy was busy dashing around, putting his toys into his bin next to his doggy bed to acknowledge Brandon. Caleb didn't mumble a word as he ate, Brandon making his plate and eventually sitting down with a sigh, "I know you're upset and—..."

Caleb nonchalantly interrupted Brandon, shrugging it off, "It's fine."

"Cal—..."

"Brandon, squash it." Caleb said sternly this time as he looked up at Brandon, the other's eyes wondered across Caleb's face. Once he saw his sternness, Brandon nodded and simply did what was advised, he dropped the conversation.

There's a time and a place for all this
This is not the place for all this
Is there a reason why you're saying all this?
And can we talk about it later?

"Brandon, look, it's whatever. I need to take care of Autumn." Caleb huffed as he pushed past Brandon to get to the baby girl that was crying in her swing. He picked her up and out of the swing, sitting on the couch that was in the living room with the swing.

"No, Caleb, there had to be some reason you said that." Brandon urged on as he followed Caleb into the living room, leaning on the back of the couch as he looked over at Caleb. Caleb continued shushing the baby as he put the bottle tip to her lips, she became aware of the fact it was food and eagerly began drinking the bottle. Caleb sighed and finally looked up at Brandon, "I know you're only trying to stick around for the baby, but you have that life you're trying to start with Maggie..."

Brandon's mouth opened and then it quickly shut just as quickly, although he didn't want it to be true, last time he thought on it, that's how he felt.

"Brandon, no kind of words need to be said. That love for me is gone and I know it, but I know it's there for Autumn, yeah?" Zion let out an exhausted sigh, "Just leave and live your life with Maggie..."

I've gotta right my wrongs
With you is where I belong
You've been down from the go, recognition is what you want
And it's something that I should know

"What do you mean you want me to stop visiting Autumn?"

"I don't want you over there with Caleb, there's no telling what the both of you would do." Maggie stated as the aggression of her scrubbing while washing the dishes increased. Brandon glanced at her motions and then back up at her, "Maggie, you know I only l—..."

"If you really loved me you would respect my wishes when it came to that..." She snapped as she stopped scrubbing, turning to face Brandon. The confusion on his face wasn't hard to notice, his eyes wondering around the room as he still processed the moment, "But—...Mags—..." He sighed and left the kitchen, when he made it to the bedroom he flopped back onto it. After blankly staring at the ceiling, too dumbfounded to even have a thought cross his mind, he sat up with his head in his hands. He sat there in the silence, frustrated with himself, the situation, Maggie, and so much more. His phone buzzed since it was on vibrate, he didn't rush to pick it up since their was more important matters at hand. It was his manager of productions texting to see if he completed two projects, and just as he was about to toss the phone to the side, his hand retracted and he was impulsively sending a text message to Caleb.

I'm sorry about being such a crappy dad to Autumn, and with all that you're doing, I could've done better. You're such a great parent to Autumn, and I love that so much about you...Send.

Just as he was about to lock his phone, it buzzed again. His heart fluttered in hopes that it was Caleb, but it was only Edwin.

Do you know where Caleb put the spare key?

His eyebrows furrowed,

I'm the only one with a second copy of the key to the house.

Why?

K. I'll be there soon to get it.
