The chestnut with one white stocking
Four years ago he was seen frolicking
In the endless emerald pastures of Kentucky
Could he be one who would get lucky?
Bought at Keeneland for 250,000
It was Jerry Crawford and Donegal who found him
Trained by Dale Romans and owned by Donegal,
This horse produced love abysmal.
He was born February 8, 2009
Many still call him "a favorite of mine".
Like every racehorse, hardships were endured
By the half brother to Mine That Bird.
Kentucky Derby-bound he soon was
And he finished third among "Boos" and "Rahs"
The favorite for the Belmont, he lost
He finished 5th, what were the odds?
After his 4-year-old season, he was retired
12 starts, and now he was tired
But the real heroes' lives end in tragedy
And this colt's life went that way.
October 19, he barely survived colic
But was destroyed the next day, so now he can only frolic
In heaven's green pastures.
His death left his fans reeling
It was such a sudden feeling
From being relieved to saddened in only a few days.
