This was an assignment for my orchestra class (LOL). We had to listen to the Four Seasons of Vivaldi and pick one of the seasons that appealed to us most and pretend that the music of the season we chose is the soundtrack in a movie. We then had to write a fictional narrative that would coincide with the music with the emotion that the music depicts...I chose Summer...and here it is. Please comment and tell me if it's good enough to turn in. Maybe I'll continue this someday if people actually like it! :D how cool would that be? :P (of course someday waaaay later in the future when I begin to write again). This is a twist of Romeo/Juliet and Little Red Riding Hood. Enjoy!

Crossing Borders

The forbidden always seeming pleasing to Julia who, as a child, loved dangerous adventures. If there was a 'do not' sign, she would do just the opposite out of pure curiosity. The old adage, 'curiosity killed the cat' had no affect on her. That was why she chose to go to the woods that afternoon. The woods where the whole village was scared of. There were 'things' in the woods, her grandmother had told her. Things that were beyond this world. Anyone who went in there had never come back; only a flock of birds would caw in the air would tell the villagers to stop looking for the lost.

The villagers lived in fear but it only fueled Julia's curiosity. Whenever she expressed her curiosity, her grandmother would scold her, telling her that a proper lady at the ripe age of seventeen should be finding a husband to settle down instead of dwelling on the 'nonsense' of self-freedom.

Julia disagreed.

She loved her grandmother dearly. She was the only relative who resided with but Julia's stubborn longing for adventure had taken over any sense of fear. That was why she was on the unmarked path, walking towards the direction of the woods, letting the afternoon sun guide her way. She silently cursed herself under her breath, wishing she had worn better clothing for the journey than the long dress she wore. It was harder for her to move around in something as ridiculous as the dress but her only other clothing was out drying.

Julia kept on the pathway until she had taken one step into the dark woods. Even with the afternoon sun, the woods were still dark and mysterious. Julia hesitantly waited for a few seconds, scanning her eyes across the woods to note any danger that might occur but she found none. This time, with a deep breath, she entered without hesitation.

A few minutes into the woods, Julia mused at the thought of the villagers horror-struck face if they ever found out where she was. She kept walking happily deeper and deeper, oblivious that something was following her.

It laughed as it stalked her. She was his next victim. Twice in a month! He thought it as a special treat but there was something different about her. Something pulled him towards her and he did not complain; she was beautiful. A maiden with fair black hair that reminded him of the night sky and blue orbs that brightened her dark complexions. He was enthralled, mesmerized by her beauty. Wanting her now for himself he jumped.

Julia knew she was being followed as soon as a twig snapped. Before thinking about her option, she chose for one that required no thinking.

She ran.

Running and running through the forest without knowing her pursuer, Julia felt her heart quicken with adrenaline and a deep sense of fear that was unrecognizable to her. She had always gone through dangerous situation but was this it for her? Was this where her story ended?

Julia didn't try to think of that. She only ran as fast as her two little human feet could carry her. She found a huge oak tree split in two and quickly hurried to it, wedging herself in between to conceal herself. Breathing hard, Julia waited silently to locate her prey's footsteps.
