Navalene looked up from her algebra homework as the doorbell rang. Confused as to who it could be, she opened the door to find her long-time friend Terence leaning against the doorframe, the setting sun shining through his hair.
"Hey, Navalene! I just wanted to stop by and catch up. Mind if I come in," Terence drawled.
Navalene beamed and opened the door with an enthusiastic "of course!"
Terence gave Novalene a lopsided smirk before making his way in and flopping down on Navalene's coffee colored couch.
Navalene shut the door and sat next to Terence with a grin. She was glad he'd stopped by. It's been a long time since they'd been able to just kick back, catch up, and relax.
"So what have you been up to recently? I haven't seen you much lately," Navalene questioned.
Terence shrugged. "You know, school, working on my WWIII book, the usual. I ran into Caleel not too long ago and we hung out for a bit. It was a blast!"
When Terence mentioned Caleel, Navalene felt a small pang of jealousy. At first she was surprised, but then she thought about it. Terence was a good friend of hers and they connected really well. He had adorable curly hair and warm, caramel toned skin. He had the personality of Leo Valdez and Jeff the Killer combined, but also had a soft, tender side. To top it all off he had a sexy Texas drawl.
The more Navalene thought about it the more she realized it was true. She had a crush on Terence.
"Hey, earth to Navalene? You alright there?"
Navalene started out of her reverie and realized that she'd zoned off there for longer than she anticipated.
"Yeah, sorry! I've been really preoccupied about tomorrow's auditions," she managed to stumble out as an excuse. Navalene could feel her cheeks burning with embarrassment from both the lie and what she had actually been thinking about.
Terence, oblivious as ever, didn't notice the slight reddening of Navalene's cheeks.
"I'm sure you'll do amazing! You're fun, good at what you do, and all around awesome!"
"Thanks, but I'm not quite like the other girls who are trying out. They're all gorgeous and the stereotypical cheerleaders. It's a little bit daunting!"
"Hey," Terence says scooting closer, "you're beautiful. You always have been and always will. You are talented and you take my breath away every time I see you. Never underestimate yourself."
By now Navalene was blushing furiously. "You really think that?"
"Of course! Why would I think anything else?"
Terence reached out and brushed a strand of Navalene's hair away from her face. Sometime during the conversation they'd drawn closer together and were now mere inches away from one another.
Terence thought she was beautiful. Hell, he'd had a crush on her for some time now, but he was never sure if his feelings were returned. But by her red face, he could assume there was something there. So he decided to take a leap of faith.
"Navalene," he nervously prodded. "I don't know if you feel the same, and you don't have to feel obligated to return the sentiment, but, I like you. I could see us going places. You're amazing and perfect to me in ever sense. I just want to see you happy and confident in yourself."
Terence looked away in mild embarrassment. He had planned on confessing his feelings, but it didn't make it any less nerve racking.
Navalene's heart was fluttering. "Terence, I feel the same way. You've always been there for me and I feel as if you complete me."
Terence learned forward, and before Navalene knew it, they were sharing a tender kiss. That is, until they heard a very loud and obnoxious voice screaming,
"YEEEEEEEEEES! Teralene lives!"
Mica had been watching through the window...the whole time.
"Just wait till everyone hears about this!"
Terence shoots up from the couch.
"I'm going to kill you, you no good little twerp!"
Terence ran out the door yelling bloody murder, leaving a blushing Navalene to finish her homework.
