DESTINED LOVE (Taekook/Vkook)

Chapter 17

"I--I said I'm gonna ruuin youu, didn't I?", Jungkook asks while taking unsteady steps towards Tae.

"Do you knoww whyyy I said that?"

Tae's brain numbs for a second. His eyes widen and he freezes in place when he sees Jungkook walking towards him.

But his eyebrows furrow in confusion at Jungkook's next words.

"Ask me whyyyy? Ask me whyyyy I said thaat?", he says in an almost whiny tone.

Tae doesn't understand what is going on in Jungkook's mind. He just stands still without replying.

Jungkook stops right in front of him and stares at him intently for a few seconds. Taehyung could notice a lot of emotions swirling in his eyes. But the intention to hurt him doesn't seem one of it, so he stays still without moving.

"Assssk me why I saaid that", Jungkook says again with more stress in his words.

Knowing that he is not gonna let this go, Tae asks, "Ok. Why? Tell me why you said that Mr.Jeon?"

But even in his dreams Tae wouldn't have expected this words to leave Jungkook's mouth, "Coz...Coz Imma foool".

"Iam the big--biggest fool in thiss whooole wide world"

The moment when he says those words,  he looks very vulnerable to Tae, causing him to refrain from replying anything harsh because of his behaviour this morning.

He instead simply asks "why?", again while looking directly into Jungkook's bloodshot eyes.

"Im a foool coz I loved my wifee. That too verrry dearly. Did you know that?"

"No", Tae replies softly, again not expecting this answer.

"That isss right. I would have even given my life for her. I loved her so soooo much. But how would youuu know that when my wife herself didn't know that and decided to cheaat behind myyy back"

"Why was my love not enough for her? Why did she go to that cheap Minho leaving me behind? In what way was he better than me? Why?"

Normally Tae would have become angered by those words about his husband. But at that moment he only felt empathy because he himself has been in that situation. He knows very well the pain caused by a life partner's betrayal.

The only difference was that he had come to terms with the truth soon since there is nothing he could change about it now. So it had become easier for him to forgive and move on, though he still cries alone at nights. But for Jungkook along with his heart, his ego has been hurt too, which he is unable to overcome.

Jungkook continues, "I never onnnnce looked at other women. I was alwaaaysss loyal to her because I loved onnnnly her. But she-- but she cheated on me. If I did any wrong, she should have slapped me, kicked me or punished me in any other way. But not like this. NOT LIKE THIS". His rant ends with him shouting his lungs out and falling down while he tries to take another step unsteadily.

Tae doesn't know what he could do to calm him down. Besides he himself doesn't realise the tears wetting his own cheeks and blurring his vision.

Jungkook's words make Tae's heart bleed from all the wounds he thought to have healed. But these words and the tears they bring, remind him that the wounds only looked healed from the outside, but are still very fresh on the inside.
