Chapter 23: When Sammy Met Kailtyn

(so this is a chapter of Sammy having a flashback of when he met Kaitlyn so it's all done from his POV. Enjoy!)

I  heard the door to the studio open and shut one night. All I could think is 'Who in their right mind would come in here?'  Suddenly there was a big bang on the floor as if something or someone had fallen. I decided to go take a look.

There on the floor was a young woman lying there unconscious. She must've fainted. I went over to her and touched her gently. Her skin felt really cold. If left here she would be dead within maybe an hour. 

I don't know why but I knew I couldn't just leave her there. It was so unlike me but I somehow felt a connection with this woman, like I had to help her.

I picked her up, she was surprisingly very light. I carried her to another room and lay her down on the bed there and pulled the covers up over her to keep her warm.

I then noticed the bruise on her cheek and all the bruises and cuts that went up her arms and legs. It looked like someone had really hurt her, maybe that was why she came here. Underneath it all though she was very beautiful. In fact she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen.

She began to wake up a few minutes later. She looked at me and immediately she looked terrified.

"What was I thinking? Of course she was scared. I mean just look at me'

"Don't worry, I won't hurt you."  I assured her. She seemed to relax a bit. "My name's Sammy Lawrence. What's yours?"

"Kaitlyn" she said softly.

"That's a beautiful name"

Kailtyn smiled "Thank you."

"So Kaitlyn why did you come here tonight?"

I immediately regretted asking that question as Kailtyn burst into tears. 

"I'm sorry I didn't mean t-"

"It's fine. Really. You see my parents didn't want to have me so when I was 7 they started abusing me badly. I knew if I stayed there they'd kill me so I ran away and came here."

"Oh god, Kailtyn I'm so sorry to hear that."

"It's fine, it's not your fault."

I thought about what she had told me. How could anyone treat their own child like that? And this has been happening since she was 7! I couldn't imagine the horrible stuff she must've been through.

I saw that she was crying again. I hugged her and held her gently. 

"It's okay, Kaitlyn, you can stay here with me. I promise no one will ever hurt you again. I won't let them."

"Thank you, Sammy"

(Present Day)

"What are you thinking about?"

I looked to see Kailtyn sitting beside me. I had been so lost in thought that I hadn't noticed her.

"About the day I met you"

Kailtyn stared off into the distance, thinking.

"It was so long ago. But feels like it was only yesterday."

"Yeah, I remember how you were scared of me at first. Couldn't blame you though."

"It wasn't even your appearance that bothered me I was only afraid that you were going to hurt me but when you said you weren't going to I relaxed."

I smiled "I love you so much."

"I love you too"

She leaned in and kissed me gently. I kissed her back holding on to her so tight. I was never going to let her go.
