There was nothing but darkness in the room, except for the light entering from a small window in the East wall of the basement. Through this window, god's wrath was being unleashed onto the Earth. The skies were black, anger pulsing through them. Lightning would strike the ground with a blinding light, followed by the monstrous roar of thunder. This storm has been raging for days, trapping countless families inside their homes with no access to food or water. Water flowed like the strongest of rivers, flooding roads and carrying cars miles away from their owners.

As the wind whistled outside their window, the family is huddled closely together, slowly wasting away due to the lack of food. They dare not to move from the fear of being injured, from seeing the frightening things happening to the world outside. Outside, water was pressing against the windows, trying to force its way inside the family's only safe haven. Above the water you'd see trees, split right in half, still smothering after being struck by lightning multiple times. Their leaves filled with holes from the rain that fell at piercing speeds unimaginable to the human mind. All kinds of animals struggled to stay above the water, trying to get on top of houses or objects that could support their weight.

Back at the house the family struggled to keep alive. Their eyes filled with despair and pain, wondering when this hell will finally be over. A small voice spoke above this hell

"Mommy. When can we eat again?"

Her mother replied, her voice full of distress "I'm not sure yet baby girl"

After that reply, silence filled the room again.

Time passed with no sign of relief, the family soon accepted their fate, But as if a message from heaven they finally found their first sign of relief, silence. The rain was steadily getting slower and less violent, all their prayers were finally getting answered. But suddenly the unexpected, a single ray of sunshine peeked through the clouds, shining through the destruction and into that little basement, giving a kiss full of warmth and hope on that little girl's face. The small girl's face lit up with excitement and her spirit was reborn, her mother's heart eased and a smile was born. As this little ray of sunshine spread and grew, its warmth was felt by everything.

It proves to say that it is worth living through hell, because at the end, when you least expect it, a little ray of sunshine will warm your very existence...
