A tall thinly girl stood atop a roof, her hair swayed with the whisking winds. Smoky strips of clouds cascade the sky like streams of rice. As the city's towers stretched out like fingers scathing a river. She breathed in the toxic hair as the door creaked open.
"Hey Miss, Luis," a low voice evaporated in the cold wind. Before even reaching the girl, who then sat on the edge rail.
"What are you doing up here?" The voice drew near as Eli lorded tittered on the edge of the building."I don't wanna go." She stated in a frigid tone. As figure flanked her left side. And intertwined into their palms."You've earned it." A girl in a white coat with a slink peach of a face and long hair. Stood in silence near Eli; who had still been absorbing the city.
"It's wonderful, yet really dangerous down there." She took a step back apprehensive. As she fell into the grips of the woman in a rob coat.
"Don't worry, as long as there's someone with you." The white-coated girl smiled then tightened her grip on Elis's palm.
"Yah he's . . . Out there, but, " Eli nodded and withdrew from the rooftops. And the white-coated girl followed her back. Down two sets of staircases.
"You're all set for tomorrow?" nudged the white-coated girl. Eli gulped then started speed walking ahead of her.
"Yeah, just have few unpacked clothes." Eli downplayed the situation wail avoiding eye contact. As the two entered the facility."Then you don't mind letting me in," She stopped to read Eli, who purest her bottom lip. As thick silence dominated the space between them. Eli picked her pace back to her dorm.
"Okay. . ." Eli abruptly halted in front of her room. She sighed then slowly opened her room.
"Happy!" Her bedroom was littered with poorly folded clothing. The white-coated women did a one-eighty on the room.
"It's . . . it's not that bad. Just needs sprucing up." the white-coated women smiled.
"As my handler, you don't have to." she pleaded as her handler already started. Eli hurried to cup the hands of her handlers.
"Miss Luis you don't have to." Eli's weary gaze carried over her handlers shoulders to the door."I can finish packing in the morning. If you let me call my brother, he could get hear early, " Eli's chestnut weary eyes pleaded with her handler."We can't withhold, though I think you should hand that over Eli." Jean argued sternly before softening. She let her shoulders give way.
"Sure, go ahead." Eli stepped out, as her handler Jean. Started to fold some of Eli's dress's, pants and blouse. Once in the facility's hallowed hall. She made her way to a nearby mounted wall phone. She quickly dialed her brother's number. After a few rings, someone answered."Hello..." Eli froze upon hearing the voice at the end of the call. She bit her lower lip while debating her next words. "It's Eli, Eli Jeon. I'm calling for my brother." She announced stuttering at every word. The voice at the other end. Grunted in agreement, which made her anxious.
"Oh, Eli it's Jaq Jaq Heir, " The male on the other end exclaimed happily. "Hello, sponsor wait what are you doing with Zing's phone?" There was a type of haunting silence took over them. Eli held her breath as Jaq granted. "It's not something I can tell you over the phone." Anger drowned dread after hearing Jaq. "I'm his guardian, I deserve to know what going on!" That prompted Jean to bolt out of the room. "What's wrong?" Eli simply motioned silence with her index. Jaq sighed which echoed over the line into the now cold halls. "Listen, I'll pick you up tomorrow. You at the Oasis Recovery on Holi street." Eli hummed yes. As Jaq suddenly hung up on her. The night dredged on as Eli started to clean her room. After quickly stuffing her clothes into her duffel bags. She threw herself onto the small cot. Her mind ran with grave possibilities. From her brother being hospitalized. To her brother being heavily injured. She stood back up and marched to the restroom. Looked in the mirror.
A pale puffy face glanced back. A familiar face, one that hopefully her brother could recognize. She swung the mirror open. Then Friend her teeth. She looked under the sink her black hair dye."Time for a new look." She combed her hair. The step by step fallowed the dye box's instruction. "Step five, wait for forty-five minutes before cleansing." She threw the box into the mini trash can. Then padded restroom tub with covers. In pursuit of comfort. She woke smudges of black dye on her shoulder. Extending to the bedsheets under her. She through them out undressed to shower. The running spout rained out all possible noise. When her handler knocked. She couldn't hear a darn thing. Dark dye ran down her pale body. "Hello, you ready Eli?" Jean entered as Eli stepped out the shower. Then she turned off the shower faucet. The water sound gave way to Jean's footsteps. The instant she picked up on Jean's footsteps. She grabbed the toilet plunger. Holding it in a batting stance. "Hello! Your sponsor's waiting downstairs." Jean announced fallows by two knocks. Eli quickly opened the door. Jean studied her before she chuckled. Eli realized the dye bedcover behinds her. She pushed out, to pull them close. Behind them both she looked around. In the delight of making it through. "I'm gonna him, I'm going to miss this place." Eli's words fumbled on the way out. Unsure of how to bid farewell. "You think I'm ready." Jean cupped Eli's hands and gave her a wide grin. "It's time." Jean picked Eli's two duffels. As she swung a mini hello backpack. It had an elegant red flower. Out of the hall and into the facilities elevator. Eight minutes down as the two sashed into the lobby hall. Among the lobby lounge sat a bronze skin feller with dark curly hair. He dawned on a navy blue sweater and a beige coat. "Hey, Eli! Over here." He sprouted with a cheesy smile upon seeing Eli. Perplexed Eli relived Jean of her duffel bags. Then cautiously confronted the guy."Hi, I'm Jaq Hadji, " He placed an arm out and scanned her head to toe."And you are?"She cooked and eye, and shook his hand."I'm your sponsors, it's cool to finally meet you. I've heard so much about you, " Eli leaned back in amazement. Then sat down to follow up on her real worry. "Likewise Jaq, now where's my brother?" Eli sat back ready for anything. "That's just I. Don't. Know." Eli's face turned somber. As a fusion of anger, helplessness swirled in her mind. "Okay, let's go!" She shot up furious, as Jaq noticed Eli's duffel bag. He glanced at the bags at Eli. Who stopped at facilities sliding doors. "Your bags!" Jaq requested Eli puffed out her chest.
"Please, Opah! hurry up I know where to start." She snatched the duffle bags and dashed out after Eli. Who stood on the sidewalk basking Hellenic's morning air. "Hmmm, I've missed this. Where'd you park by the way?" Jaq tossed her the duffel bags? Then marched to the parking lot. "Hey!" She plucked her bags up keeping to Jaq's tail. She looked over Jaq's mini cup car. When beeped the back open. She shook her head in amusement. When they finally entered the car. "Let's start at the nearest pharmaceutical." Jaq looked at her perplexed. "Trust me." "Why didn't you report it to Hellenic City ranger?" She focused on pulling the seat belt. It felt stuck for a second before easing. That caused Eli to head butt the glove compartment. "Fuck!" She grinds her teeth and quickly opened the vizier's mirror. As a peach lump grew on her forehead. "I've already tried. Though it's been two months, " Jaq kept his gaze up, as he cut to the left. With Eli's face scrunching into ugly and angry. "Have they contacted you since then?" The Jaq shook his head. As he's dark curly hair swayed to mean no."Did you try following up?" The two pulled up to pay for the parking lane. Eli saw a pharmaceutical shop. She then dashed and out post-haste. Jaq followed as he attempted to answer. "Well, they gave me a lecture on the procedure, then said they had a bigger case to solve. Like that one about a bank highest downtown." Jaq kept to Eli like a second shadow as they exited the car. "Oh, yeah didn't they arrest a foreigner at Pantheon University for it." Inquired Eli as Jaq ran ahead and held the Pharmacy door open for her. "That was two days ago." Jaq's statement flowed out half horse. Eli flowed among the isles in search of a particular thing. Most isles had snacks mini toys and Hellenic city-themed miniature figures and hats. "Thanks, copper face. No wonder my baby brother still missing." She picked up some tampons in the case of gum. Then finally a body Dence™ made for athletes in pain. "My names not copper face." Jaq blurted in the pretest. When placed it all in a bag then gave it to him. Well, until you contribute to finding Zing. I'll call you copper face." Jaq pursed his lower lip and accidentally bit down. Eli looked at him expectedly. "Well, pay the cashier; being in the program didn't exactly put currency in my pockets." Jaq took a much-needed deep breath. Then paid for Eli's things finding a bit of what she said to be reasonable. "You're welcome to stay over at our place. Until we find Zing." Jaq somber glazed chestnut eyes drew her attention. As the two made their way to the mini cop car. "Oh, gee thanks. It's not like I have a place to stay." She held a sense of sarcasm in her ton. Unknowingly Jaq started popping he's fingers. As he dashed to the driver's seat. "I'm sorry to say we don't have a spare room. You'll have to sleep on the couch." Jaq said with restraint in he's a ton. Eli jerked her head to him. Pondering who Jaq lived with. She leaned over glancing at his finger for a ring. "You're kidding me!" She held her breath as Jaq pulled into, he's flatting garage. He would open her door as she pouted. She reminds seated as he unloaded her bags. Eli Jetted out the car and snatch bags. Jaq shook down his head and lead the way to his apartment. Upon arriving he dropped the bag. "Watch it!" Jaq warned and pulled her feet before having the bags hit his toes. Eli lifted her belonging as Jaq opened the door. To short hall that leads to a spacious living room. That held a stoic feel, from the wooden framed chairs. To the oak glazed did tables. She looked for television and found a sunken frame library. "What are your thoughts?" Jaq's breath quickens as he stood behind the kitchen counter. Mean to prepare something for them."Eh, I've seen better." With that, she dragged her Duffles down their hallway. This one held four doors. She inspected a second door, which ended up being a restroom. The final was a Swiss king size bed. She spotted an action figure of girl in a rabbit costume holding a high kick. As an irking feeling crept down her spine, pondering what happened to her brother.
