Two weeks later
"Jordyn are you ready yet?" That's the first thing that I hear when I wake up.
Ready for what?
I sit there for a minute thinking about it until my eyes widen in realization. We're going on to Annie and Andrea's cabin for the weekend like we do every year. It usually goes the same each time. We all stay together for a couple of days and Harrison and I get the chance to stay out there for a few more days while our parents come home or we come back home with them. Normally we'd stay and invite people over and get drunk but I don't think we'll do that this year because of what happened last time.
Oh shit. I forgot all about it.
"Yeah, I'm almost finished packing," I yell in response as I shoot up from my bed.
Rushing to my closet, I grabbed a pair of black leggings and an oversized dark blue tee I stole from Harrison. Next, I stuffed some underwear, fitted tank tops, and sweatpants inside of a random duffel bag I've had for years.
"How much longer will you be?" she yells impatiently from the living room.
"Just give me 5 minutes, ma!"
Running into the bathroom, I brush my teeth and wash my face before sloppily throwing water on my hair to soften it and make it easier to brush. After putting the water on, I apply a little gel and slick my hair into a tucked ponytail. Tying a scarf onto my head, I wrap my toothbrush and gather any other necessary toiletries to put into my bag.
When everything is into my bag, I zip it and make my way to the living room. Once I walk in, I'm met with an impatient mother sitting on the couch with her bags just staring at me.
"Took you long enough."
Giving her the biggest smile I walked up and kissed her on the cheek. "I love you?" I try.
"Yeah, yeah," she brushes me off while trying to hide her own smile. "Let's go. I'm not trying to be late."
Packing everything into the car, we drove the quick 30 seconds to the Garcia's. I know it sounds stupid to drive when we could've walked but since all of us are going, Andrea and Annie are driving with Harrison in his car since it's bigger and if we decided to stay, they were gonna drive back with my mom and have their car.
When we got there the first thing I noticed was Harrison struggling to carry his duffel bag along with his moms' stuff and it was quite hilarious.
"Now why do they have that boy out here struggling like that?" my mom asked as she parked next to Harrison's truck in the driveway.
"Because he's a boy. That's all he's good for," I respond with a snort. Looking over at me, she gives me one of those looks that lets you know she's wondering why she didn't abort me.
"You know what? Get out and go help him," she told me.
"No mama, I was just playing," I say while attempting to give her puppy dog eyes.
"Too bad. Now get out and go help my son-in-law," she said while unlocking the door. No matter how many times I assured her that nothing would ever happen between me and Harrison, she still wanted us to be together, hence why she calls him her son-in-law.
Groaning, I unbuckle my seatbelt and get out of the car. Moving toward a struggling Harrison as slowly as possible, I watch as he is barely able to keep one of the duffle bags in his grip since he was also carrying two book bags.
"Need some help?"
Slightly freezing at the sound of my voice, Harrison turned around slowly. Staring at me for what seemed like an eternity, he cleared his throat.
"Yeah," he says with a sigh. "Can you grab one of these book bags?"
Nodding my head, I grab the bag that was cutting off the blood flow from his forearm.
Silently, we make our way to his car and put all the stuff in. "So, you done avoiding me?"
Turning to face him confused, I raise a brow. "What"
"Ever since what happened two wee-"
"Oh yeah!" I exclaim to cut him off. "Don't worry about that, I forgot all about it. I've just been busy," I say, trying to sound as convincing as possible.
Now it was Harrison's turn to raise a brow. "Really? With what?"
"You know...stuff," I try with an unsure smile.
Smirking, he crossed his now free arms.
"Well, are you finished doing your stuff?" he asks, playing along even though he knows I'm lying.
"Yep," I answer, mocking his stance.
Making a "hmm" noise, Harrison just looked at me as though he was deep in thought.
"Hey moms, can you ride with Jocelyn? There's only room for one other person in the truck with all of our stuff in it," he shouts while turning around.
"Yeah no problem, babe," Andrea, his raven-haired mom responded. "Oh, and hi, Jordyn. I didn't see you standing there," she called out before I had the chance to
"Hi Mrs. Garcia," I say with a wide smile and a small wave.
When she looks away, I slap Harrison's arm which is pointless since he doesn't even flinch.
"I hate you so much."
"Don't lie to yourself. You love me," he was was a confident smile.
Ugh.
